RN License Issuing Issues?????

Published

So I called up the BON of NY and they said to mail in my form 1. I already took the NCLEX RN and PASSED :D/

But how long will they take to issue it now? They told me that every 5 years you need to update the form. OMG! I passed but they wont create a license because of form 1 needs to be updated. I mailed it in they received it on Friday. I called them on Tuesday they said that they dont have it on my records yet. I have proof of delivery provided by USPS. Express Mail (online tracking is my proof) . How long will it take them to issue a license for me since I passed my RN a month ago. Getting frustrating. I want to transfer it after to Colorado.

I contacted them they said mine is not on their records. I have proof of delivery with the actual signature of the person provided by USPS. So, when do they open the mail that they receive in their P.O. Box in Albany, NY 12201?

I am becoming very upset with the Office of Professions in NY.

You are asking how long they will issue license once your form has been delivered in both posts hence the merge.

I think it will be hard to say how long it will take as a lot will depend on how many are working in the office and how quickly your form gets to the person dealing with your file

I already passed and I sent in the form. they keep on telling me we didint receive it even though i have proof of DELIVERY. They wanted me to mail a updated form AFTER I PASSED. Usually how long would that take? The person with my files is very rude on the phone

Its already been a month and they want to take more time. They didnt even tell me that anything was wrong. I called them last week, that's when they start telling me I need an update. Ridiculous! They should at least have the courage to notify the candidate that there is something wrong.

So what happens to all the mail? Does it go in the basement or something

mail will probably go to one office where it is sorted and then moved to the more appropriate office

Am going to answer several questions in one post:

Most every company or whatever that uses a POB or lock box has the same MO. A person or persons are sent to the post office each day to fetch the mail (and it is they who sign for any certified or otherwise requiring a signature), and brings it back to the mail/sorting room of the said company. There it is sorted and routed to the correct department. Once at the proper department it will have to be opened and assigned to someone for processing.

When using USPS's "Delivery Confirmation" for a POB it is the same as for domestic (home) delivery. The article is scanned as delivered when it is placed *in* the mail or post office box. That does not mean it was actually received by the addressee on that day much less processed.

Per NYS's own website it generally takes 2-3 weeks to process license applications, but certain times of the year (June through August) it can take longer. This makes sense as spring is when those graduating and GNs begin the process of becoming licensed. Add to this that the summer months are prime vacation time for all employees, and the fact NYS has been "down sizing" government workers could mean longer waits.

They keep saying that we dont have to time to run down to our basement and get search for our mail. So how is it sorted? Like all the large envelopes received each week are they sorted into a pile? The one's that they receive first go on the top of the pile, the rest of the days mail goes under. or do they just throw it on the ground?

Only those in the particular NYS office can answer that question! *LOL*

More likely than not mail is processed and or grouped by the date it was received. When you contact them again ask where there are in terms of processing/what date are they currently working on.
