I interviewed for a per diem position that I ultimately decided not to accept. The pay was to be per visit, $90 for admit, $50 for hi tech, $40 for low tech. No mileage reimbursement. No idea about per hour for training or office time, didn't sound like there was much training to be had. The manager claimed that this was the best pay in town for HHC, but I have my doubts about that.
wow no mileage reimbursement, that's harsh when puttiing miles on my car. thanks KateRN1

wish you well!
Thanks, it looks like they pay about the same as Oklahoma, but there is no way I can stay here any longer. At least in Florida there are things that the state can offer such as nice weather and activities.
Consider also that the cost of living is much higher here than OK (we moved from MO). Rent, utilities, food--all are more expensive than the midwest. We were doing quite well in MO, but are now struggling in FL on the same budget. The summer electric bill is a real killer for us, but no way to do without it. It's already been in the upper 80s here this week. Ugh. And I'm a native. :-s

You might want to look at St. Vincent's or Baptist in Jax. My sister works at Baptist.

I was wondering what the pay would be like in Jacksonville for a nursing grad with no experience.
The better question is how likely are you to find a job at any rate of pay. Honestly, if you're in Jax as a new grad and someone offers you a job, take it.
So, it is hard to get a job in Jacksonville as a nurse?
My sister didn't have a problem getting a job, but that was a few years ago. I want to say initially she did something at Shands, but I know she went St. Vincents and now she is at Baptist. She was at Beaches, but now at South. Initially, she got into a paid training program where you sign on for 2 years or something. They also paid back her student loans. She did really well in school and had some kind of Florence Nightingale Award at pinning - that may have helped. I think she secured a job as tech or something in school too so she already had her foot in the door. I have been looking to see whats out there and places are hiring.
I don't know what you want to compare the pay too, but when I was in Jax pay was pretty good for most professions. I am in PCola now and totally different situation.
I was just wondering. I am entering the program in the Fall, but I was just trying to see how hard it may be to secure a position. I really want to get experience while in school, so that I can get a better paying position when I graduate. Its just that I have two children to take care of.
