RN generic full Time fall 2014- Miami dade college

Published

I'm applying for the Generic Full Time RN program for fall 2014 (August). I took my NLN Pax exam already and got an overall score of 143. Curious if this will be goof enough to get in? Can't find any stats since the previous test was the TEAS... Looking forward to hearing back from anyone else that has taken the test already. Thx.

I just want to get in already!!!!

Nurse bee, how long is a typical day for you?

Would you say the course contents were tougher than core science classes like a&p, chem, etc.? Ive heard people struggle through nursing school because it was more like trade school and just different than the lecture classes they were used to taking. Just the whole aspect of going to clinicals, labs, and applying what they learned made it tough for them. But the contents were actually easier than taking science courses. I was wondering if you found it the same.

Whats the grading scale like btw? For some programs you need like a 77 to pass the class and move on. So I was wondering if mdc is the same. Oh, and how do they grade clinicals? Is it pass or fail, or do we receive a letter grade?

77 is a C in the nursing program. go to this link and the grading chart is on page 14.

Thank you for your help :)

Nurse joy, be prepared for looooong days of studying, I would spend around 4 hours a day studying, max 8-9 closer to exam day. (Pretty sure I spent 12 hours at Starbucks a couple times). For clinicals you need to do care plans, that lovely packet would take me average 5 hours.

I had a few classmates who were able to work full time, they passed but were always struggling. I worked very part time, so was able to dedicate most of my time to studying.

Cdeta002, in my case nursing classes were easier, but maybe because I found it interesting in comparison to a&p, chem, micro. Anything you learn in clinical is great to remember for real life experience but throw it away for the test, because usually how you saw it in clinical was done "wrong".

Exams consist mainly of critical thinking, which a lot of people aren't used to.

Thank you nurse bee, wow we got a lot of stress coming our way lol. But at the end it's all worth it :nailbiting:

Nerse bee where did you did the physical exam that they ask you once you get accepted

I did it at the school, they have a small clinic.

I was checking out this site that someone mentioned awhile back but I noticed that it was never updated for spring 2014.

Maybe they are using a different site now? Or do they use a different site for the spring terms? If anyone knows
