I'm applying for the Generic Full Time RN program for fall 2014 (August). I took my NLN Pax exam already and got an overall score of 143. Curious if this will be goof enough to get in? Can't find any stats since the previous test was the TEAS... Looking forward to hearing back from anyone else that has taken the test already. Thx.
When I called I tried this number and I spoke to advisement but that was months ago... It's (305) 237-4141 try it or maybe that's the same number u tried lol
Yeah that's the number I called. They're being really strict about not speaking to advisors over the phone because "advisors are extremely busy with Nursing school applications". They said if I want to speak to one I will have to walk-in. I might go there tomorrow since I live near there. MAYBE because it might be a waste of time. I think the best thing to do right now is just wait to see if I get in. THEN if I don't that's when I'll be there asking a million questions lol.
Hey guys, I just wanted to mention that there is a medical campus advisor who visits the homestead campus on Wednesdays. I am trying to recall her name. Anyway, if anyone is closer to that campus, they can call and make an appointment to see her (I think her name is Tiffany, but don't quote me on that) to help clear up any issues. I am not applying until September, but I have been following this thread and wanted to help, as I know this is super stressful for you all. Hope this helps
She is in the advisement office. The room that is located closest to the waiting area is where I usually see her. I tried to see her one time as a walk-in, but I was told she was booked with appointments and I could wait. The receptionist told me that I would have a better chance of seeing her if I made an appointment, so I did. However, I had to wait until the following week to see her, with an appointment of course. She is only there in the morning and leaves in the early afternoon. As for her name, I think it is Tiffany, but I could be wrong. Check with the advisement office to be sure.
Hi… I’ve been following this thread for many days and, well… I think you are a pretty nice group if we all have the chance to get in. I took the entrance test on April 17. I got an overall score of 128 (61% Verbal, 77% Math, 76% Science). My Science GPA is 3.71. The big problem we all have is that we don’t know how MDC does the numbers. Anyway, if you go to the nlnonlinetesting.org (you have to have an account, since you registered for the test), under the Tab “Testing” click on “To find your PAX Composite Percentile, click here RN PAX or PN PAX”. This table converts your overall score to 100 points. With that number, you can calculate. For example, (GPA*10)+(Overall_Score_Converted*0.6). That number is something similar to the previous TEAS. I think that around the middle 80’s is enough to get in. It is just an idea. What do you think?
Other than that, I think that if MDC extended the application deadline the reasons are one out of two: they don’t have enough applications (which I don’t think) or they don’t have enough “good” applicants (good GPA+good entrance test). Don’t be depressed. Many people don’t tell the truth when talking about their grades, scores, etc. I don’t think there are a lot of people with 4.0 GPA and 145 Overall Score!
Hi, nursejoy22. Do you think my "numbers" make sense?
Hi span_club! yes i think your numbers do make sense because that's exactly how it was calculated with the teas. My only problem though is that one of the girls said that the advisors used a computer they would plug in the numbers to find out the total score which could be a completely different formula. So yeah, it could be either one but yeah your numbers DEFINITELY make sense!! thanks so much for that info!!!!
OoommmmGgggg ive missed sooo much. I cant believe that they extended the deadline what a joke. This is ridiculous. I applied for all 3 options...generic full time and part time..plus accelerated to UP my chances. Id be danm if I dont get in.Its unfair to the ppl who studied their ass off to make it to the deadline whether they were 100% ready or not..MDC seriously need to get it together. I will get into this program because I deserve to be in it. And so does everyone here. If we all went by rules and followed deadlines and guidelines then idk why MDC felt like it was okay to just extend the date WITHOUT acknowledging those who applied prior to may 1st...here we are counting down the days and BANM a BOMB drops! Ughhh... frustrating
Woot welcome back cutiejo25!!!! and yeah can you believe all that's happened???
Nursejoy22, it's weird that in two months you have no answer. I suggest you to call them. There is a Customer Service number in their page (I called once), and it is no much waiting time (5 minutes or so). They are nice people who try to help and, in my case, they send me an email with the information I needed within minutes. Good luck!
