I am having a horrible time finding a day position, preferably full-time!! It has been a month now and if I thought I could handle midnights, I would, since that is the only calls I have received. I live in the Akron-Canton area, but would consider just about anywhere right now!
Does anyone have any ideas?? ER, Cardiac, Med/Surg.....I dont care! Being the "main bread winner", I am starting to "freak out"!!
Thanks in advance!!

Home Health Nursing usually consists of dayshifts. I work nights so I know how difficult it can be. Good Luck.

I can relate. I didn't want to work nights either. I did except a night position at a local hospital (really liked the staff!). I was told it could take a year to move to days, since they like new grads on nights because they feel it's less stressful (not so sure that's true!). While I was still on orientation, on days, a day position opened up and I was granted a transfer :wink2:. So please be encouraged if you have to accept something less than your first choice- it can work out. Best of luck to you!

My sister just got a job at cleveland clinic main campus rotating day/evening shift. When I got a job in July at Huron Hospital, i told them i could only work days and they were fine with that. From what I hear, most hospitals in the Cleveland area will give you what you want.

I wouldn't agree with the above poster....you hire into what is available, if most units handed people only day spots, first, there would be a mutiny and second, you wouldn't have many friends in that unit. Most places make moves on seniority and day postions are prime. Some places do offer a 3a-3p position that seems to work for a lot of people. I know where I am they would tell you...okay, well thanks for coming.
Could you work PRN?

If your the main bread winner and your not working--thats a problem. You need to get a job-any job-any shift. Your a more desirable candidate if your already employeed!!!! So take the night job and keep looking for somewhere to work days. You will also be in a better posistion to trans to days or pick up day shifts if your a current employee.
In todays world there is no reason you should not be working!!!
