Rn - bsn whats the best way to go about this

Published

I am about to enter my last semester of nursing school and would like to get some advise on the best direction to take after i graduate . I will be getting my AS and would like to move on to my BSN I would like to do this in a timely manner and not have to spend a lot of time fulfilling too many university pre requirements .. and im not that interested in the online pathway . So i did some research and found florida sothern college and it seemed pretty flexible but I dont really know a lot about it . So i just want to get some suggestions on whats my best route as a soon to be new nurse who wants to get some work experience and earn a BsN then Msn .

there are so many variables and it comes down to what is best for you. If you can work while going to school that would allow you to learn nursing and have both education and experience.

Florida Southern is a great school no matter what you are going for. Only drawback is that it is a private institution so tuition can be very pricey. I believe their BSN program has a part-time option so you could work to get experience while finishing your BSN degree. Has to be finished within a seven year time-frame from what I've read. Good luck :)

May I ask why you are ruling out on-line? I'm getting ready to start on my RN-BSN, and with working full-time as a RN all ready, I can't think of a more convenient way to go back to school. I don't have to plan classes around my work schedule, I just log on.

I agree. I plan to start online RN-BSN next month. I took some of my ASN classes online and feel I learned just as much and at my own convenience. Employers don't care where/how you took your classes only that you graduated from an accredited school.

 The program I choose is actually a local university, that just happens to offer it's RN-BSN online. I think this is great, since the campus is only a mile from my house. So, if I have questions or concerns, and want a face-to face with an instructor, I can still do so. Just throwing that out there in case the OP doesn't want to attend some "on-line only" program.

Thank you all , im not ruling out the online option at all but i have been discouraged by family members to do it

I guess because they are more traditional I dont know , but I have heard great things about it .i guess I still want to get the whole living on campus experience ..which i havnt had since as im getting my AS at a community college ..and I also feel I need the stimulation of the class room ..but hey i wont narrow my options at all . HEY my strong point seem to be in pharmacology does anybody have any suggestions on how i can use this strength to specialize ...in nursing
