Is it worth it doing an RN to BSN to MSN program or going straight from RN to an MSN program. I'm looking at a program that has both routes, one you get your BSN on the way to your MSN and the other you do not. I already have a BA and MBA in healthcare management and wandering if I should get my BSN on the way. I will working full time throughout most of the program, which will take 3 years to complete.

You’ll have to check the program that you’re interested in. Many require a BSN, some only care about having a bachelors (doesn’t matter what it’s in). If the program that you’re interested in accepts any bachelors, then it seems like a waste of time and money to do the BSN first..
Thank you! Yes the place I'm looking into just requires a bachelors then I will just do a couple bridge courses before I start the MSN courses. What leaning towards this route since it will be a couple months shorter to complete then going the other route.

You don’t need a BSN. If it saves you time, go right to MSN. I had a BS in sociology, then went for my AS in nursing, then did an RN-MSN program. No one has ever cared that I don’t have a BSN.

To answer your question. Go RN - BSN -MSN. Or get into a BSN program then MSN. I have a BA. As well as ADN . Was offered To go into MSN program after the first 4 classes in My current BSN program. I declined and am currently in BSN route. Due to me undecided on what I want my MSN degree to entail. Do what’s best for you.

I know it is an old thread but can you name any college or university that gives direct RN- MSN admissions if you have BS in something else? Looking for online options.
