Riverside School of Health Careers RN program

U.S.A. Virginia

Hello everyone!

I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!

That's awesome! And of course! When are you supposed to do the online orientation? And do you know if we register for classes at the on-site orientation?

All the online orientation is, is a checklist we need to complete and turn in during the on-site orientation. But the link for info on the student badges doesn't work so I'm going to e-mail Ms.W to see who I need to contact. I'm assuming we'll be getting registered for classes at the on-site orientation.

I hope we are in the same classes together! I want to know how many people were accepted

I want to know as well! I believe we will at least all be in the lecture class together. Then be split into small groups for clinicals. That was my understanding. Not sure if lab will be the small groups like clinicals or not.

That sounds like it could be right! Smaller labs I would think

Good Morning I am new to the site but have been following your thread. I am also considering applying to Riverside in the fall I am relocating from NYC with the intention of being accepted. I am so ready to give up my current stability to begin not only a new life in Hampton but to change careers and become an RN. I am a 52 year old Navy mom and I am ready for change. I completed my prerequisites and I also took the Teas V. Sadly, I only scored a 47.9%. I was devastated because I know the material I think my nerves just got the best of me. I was unable to relax the entire exam and much to my surprise my worst score was in the reading comp portion of the exam. I was mortified because of all parts of the exam, I should have passed the reading comp with flying colors. Idk what happened there. I too am weak in math and always have been. Those algebraic equations scare the crap out of me. Currently I have a 2.69 GPA and I am praying that it is good enough for consideration into the program. I will be submitting my application within the next few days and I am preparing to retake the Teas V. My question is how many times does Riverside allow you to retest in a testing period.

Ps. I took the Teas exam at a PSI Testing site not through Riverside

Are you applying for the January start? The fall application deadline has already passed and people have been admitted as well. I believe riverside let's you test twice. Good luck! Maybe I'll see you around campus one day :)

Was actually wanting to apply for the May 2014 start date. Based on their website, there are multiple state dates for the program.

This area of VA is VERY competitive, with your GPA you may be better off doing a LPN program and then doing a LPN/RN bridge program. 3.5 is the lowest GPA I have heard of actually getting a seat in a class, even though the lowest to apply is a 2.0.

Yes it is very competitive! I have a 4.0 and got denied from another program. I applied for riverside very nervous that I would get denied again! To my surprise I got accepted! You either need a strong gpa or a strong test score! I would recommend maybe trying to retake some of the classes you need to get into to the rn program and get the gpa up higher! Or try the other programs! But apply for everything because you never know!! Good luck!

My gpa is a little higher than a 3.0 but I had a good test score and a good interview. So having a lower gpa does not make it impossible

Yeah I think you either need a high gpa or a high test score! My gpa is high but my test score was low!
