being an RN & being a PA are two totally different things. someone who wants to be an RN might not necessarily enjoy being a PA.
Riverside community college has BOTH programs.....for PA and RN. Yes you're right, they 2 seperate programs.
Anybody out there know more about the RN program from RCC?

PA is great if you want to do 2000 hours of clicinical to graduate and it is not comparable to RN/BSN. I am also chipping away at my pre-reqs at RCC and if you have a high GPA, you get priority enrollment. If not then most only wait one semester.

Thank you for your reply. Its good to know the waiting list is not that long!! :bowingpur

rcc is wonderful! the absolute best program in the region for the cost, quality of instructors, clinical experiences available, and support received while a student. i'm in the program and love every day of it, even when it feels like you might lose your mind with all the work and demand placed on you.
i didn't have to wait after i finished my prereqs and applied, but some people in my class had to wait up to three semesters. but they all agree it's worth the wait! please do apply, you'll be glad you did.

Oh, and first priority is given to those who have completed all prereqs by the application date (high GPAs in those classes count, too), and who live in the RCC district. You also have to pass the TEAS test, which isn't too difficult.

I just went to a nursing workshop for RCC two weeks ago. I have most of my pre-reqs done, but i got very discouraged because of the waiting list. The way it is rightnow, they don't focus too much on gpa from generad ed units.. only the A&P and MiC classes. The higher the grades in these, the better. But things will change in 2009. They will be using a point scale. They give you 60 pts for a 4.0 gpa in general ed. Another 60 for 4.0 gpa in the A&P, MIC classes, and i don't remember what else they give you points for. It's going to get tougher to try to get in just because sooo many people want to go there. And they said they have so many quailified students as well. I'm thinking on doing my lvn at a 1yr private college and then doing a bridge program somewhere else, because at this rate, it might take another 4 yrs to complete the RCC nursing program including the waitlist.

I am currently in the 3rd semester and it only took 2 applications after completing the prereq's. I had a 4.0 in the sciences (A&P, Microbiology) though. In the future this will matter along with passing the TEAS test liked dawn said. If you get a choice between MEC (march education center) and Riverside campus I would take MEC. It has more room and a little better atmosphere. Hope this info helps.:nuke:
But also remember that this is one of the best programs nationally for ADNs, so it is definitely worth the wait.

so how long it would take to get an RN degree in RCC? if havent done any pre-Reqs.
