Riverside Community College Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

Did anyone else apply to the RCC program for Spring 2012? Does anyone know if we will have to wait until January to find out whether or not we get in? I'm hoping they will let us know by December. This waiting is torture!

Yes Lovell....the math exam isn't given until orientation. They will provide a study guide. Don't worry about it. It is very straight forward. Fractions, decimals, adding, subtracting (basic math)

Does anyone know if we will need a laptop computer?

From what i have heard you do need a computer, but I would ask at intake

does anyone have any good suggestions for cheap and safe apartments that are close to RCC? Even 30 minutes away would be fine as well

Has any of the alternates been accepted into the program??

951jay, one of my friends was accepted from the standby list 4 days before intake day. =)

Anyone buy books yet? If so what did they come out to total and where did you get them? Also anyone got their registration date yet?

I haven't ordered my books yet but I've priced them between 600 and 700 dollars on the rcc bookstore, ebay, amazon, and half.com. I registered today, but my registration date was on WebAdvisor last month.

Hey Wolf888, I bought a few books already, I did some shopping and found Amazon has the better prices most of the time and a rough total for all of the books is 600 to 700 depending where you buy them from. I registered for class on Monday, thanks to priority registration. Did anyone else buy books yet and find some good deals on them, would like to compare prices?

The books are roughly around 550 bucks at amazon. First, I putted the books in the cart and waited until the prices changed. The prices did rise and fall daily, so I scoped them up when the prices went down obviously. "Reading _________" is an unnecessary book. It is more of a pamphlet than a book. It is only 33 pages long not including the glossary, and it can be read within 15 minutes. This book explains the different parts of a research paper: title, abstract, intro, methods, discussion, etc. With a little net searching, you can find the answers to reading a scientific paper. It wasn't worth the price paid.

Ok cool. Thanks everyone. I just bought them (all 13 including the drug handbook and the lab one) on Amazon. It was a little over 650. What are you all thinking about picking for your clinical? I talked to someone in the program and they said it doesn't really matter where you pick, they said you should base it on how close each hospital is to where you live. I guess it all depends on when you want clinical too.

I paid a little less than $650 on half.com for all my books including the drug handbook and lab book. Most of the books are brand new too : ) Wow, some of you have already registered? My registration date isn't even till the 17th but I think have to wait till the 23rd because that's when I get my 2nd hep vaccination. Did anyone have problems with the uniforms? I ordered according to the size chart and they were way too big! I'm definitely not a small or xsmall but apparently that's what I should have ordered.
