Riverside Community College fall 2014

Just submitted my application for fall 2014 at RCC!! Waiting on receipt confirmation!

Most people I know including myself who have taken the online practice tests feel horrible after taking it. Usually people score about 10% higher on the actual thing than on the practice test. I actually scored 15% higher on the real teas. So don't be discouraged when you don't do so well on the practice tests.

Do you mind me asking what you got on the actual test?

You really thought the actual was easier?? I think you're the 1st person I've heard say that. I took a practice test online last night, and I didn't do that great. 81%. I just did the 1st test in the back of the book, and this time I got 88% overall. The science is killing me and making me feel extremely dumb right about now! The next 3 weeks is going to be focusing on science, science, science!!!

I do think so that the real thing is way easier and I have looked at many posts and most people think that the online practice tests are harder than the actual test. I got on my online practice tests 69 and 73% and on the practice tests in the book I scored in the mid 80's. On the real TEAS I got an 84%. I did very well in math and science, in both subjects I scored in the mid 90s, I did well in english and lets say I did okay in reading :). Anyway, I think the practice tests in the book are closer to the real test than the online practice tests.

Thanks for that explanation. I hope the real deal is easier, or at about the same. I imagine it has a lot to do with when and where you take the test, as I'm sure there are different versions that randomly pick from 1000's of questions.

The reading is hard on the real exam ??? That's what I'm most worried about :nailbiting:

It depends on if you can read fast and retain as much information as possible without having to go back and forth. I remember one article that had a lot of scientific terms in it so I had to go back and forth all the time, so that article cost me a lot of time. But your test might be different than mine. I knew beforehand that reading would be my weakness since it was always my lowest score on the practice tests. The problem is you can't really practice that in a few weeks. Either you are a strong reader because you have read a lot your whole life or you are like me and you just read the bare minimum that was required in school. But don't get discouraged, my results said that about 28% nation wide scored higher than me in reading and also about 25% in the program scored better than me in reading. So your chances that you score higher than me in reading are pretty good :).

I applied for fall and I have 75 points. I wonder how competitive that is. I know the spring seemed to have a lot of people who got in with 75 points. Does anyone have there total points for the program yet?

I'm a slow reader ...I got 100 percent on the reading part on online practice exam A but I went over the time limit by 15 minutes lol so Im nervous about time ...also another question do they give scratch paper for the reading part ? There is a lot of math on the diagrams for reading

I took online practice test A today and I got a 88% ... 100% in reading but I went over the time limit by 15 minutes (YIKES LOL) 85% in math (I hate finding the variable when dealing with fractions and I don't like when they give u a line that represents 1 mile and a map and say how many miles is this .. I'm not good at eyeballing measurements lol.... 86% IN SCIENCE ( I mean come on some of the questions were just out of left field like find the oxidation number ..but now I lent back in my Chem book and learned it and hopefully good to go lol ... 85% in language ( too many grammar and spelling rules my brain can't memorize them all but IL never forget supersede is the only one with -SEDE ending lol the rest are -CEDE .... anyways sorry guys this was my little rant/venting post because I want a 90% ON THE TEAS lol :dead:

You will have scratch paper throughout the test. I already see cldomine that you will be fine. It doesn't matter how much you study or how many practice tests you will take you will never feel prepared for it.

I know lol !! I worry too much and no matter how much I study I will always feel unprepared

Thank you for answering all my questions about the teas, you have been a big help :cat: :)

Did anyone also apply to COD (college of the desert)? COD admissions said there were a lot of RCC transcripts that came through. Just curious as I applied there not RCC, I was on the fence about that.

No, I didn't apply there, sounds far. I only applied at SBVC and RCC.
