Riverside Community College fall 2014

Just submitted my application for fall 2014 at RCC!! Waiting on receipt confirmation!

COD is a bit of a drive, I think about an hour and a half from RCC. I thought about applying to RCC but realized that preferance is given to their students so I didn't have much chance of admission. I do know of few people who applied to both though, and since there is no activity from COD applicants I thought I'd try this thread. Good luck to you all :-)

Who told you that, that RCC gives preference to their students? Because they don't. It's strictly by point system. It doesn't matter where you from or if you have taken credits at Rcc.

Really??!! I called the RCC SON office regarding having my TEAS 5 transcripts sent there, when we got into a conversation about COD I was told I would have better chance there since I haven't previously attended RCC. I have pretty good stats overall, so I was surprised. I guess I should have checked the facts better, it's tough living in the Desert and having family here, so moving isn't an option. I thought the commute wasn't too bad to RCC, if I don't get selected to COD I'll being applying there next go around now. Thank you for giving me that info!

Did anyone attend the NXN-84 class today? Did enough people show this time around? I'm super sick, so I didn't go... I saw there were only 23 ppl enrolled though and the instructor said she needed 30, so I was just wondering...

That's funny.. Im sick as well so I did not go . I bet it got cancelled again !

Scratching my head here...

I took the online practice test, Version A, and I have a couple questions for anyone who has taken the online test, taken the real test, both, or who has just been studying the book.

There were a couple of questions on there that I can't find any mention of in the study manual.

Specifically, there was a question regarding vertebrate embryogenesis, referring to ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. There was also a question regarding the proteins that form muscle sarcome.

I do not see those topics covered (in that detail anyways) anywhere in the manual. So, If someone can tell me what pages to look at, in case I am just blind, that would be great! I'm wondering if (a) the online test is based off of the previous TEAS version, (b) the manual for TEAS V was not updated for the TEAS V version (they just changed the title), or © there are just some random questions on the test that don't appear anywhere in manual, and they are just considered to be general knowledge questions.

If anyone has taken the test, specifically someone who actually dissected the study manual beforehand, maybe you can tell me if option © is the correct answer.

Thanks

Apparently I deleted part of the word sacromere when I was editing the preceding post.. Hopefully you know what I meant.

I think they mention in the book the all the systems ...so myosin actin sarcomere are a part of muscle fibers which are part of muscular system ... I think the study manual gives the topics bUT you need to know more detail about each system

Another example for transcription. ..they give you the basics in the study manual but you need to know more in depth such as what introns and exons are

And I would learn the embryonic tissue layers because they mention gastrulation in the study manual which pertains to the mesoderm ectoderm and endoderm

This is what I've gathered after taking study manual tests and online tests :)

I have been looking and looking.. and I don't see anything at all about myosin or sacromeres.

I had to bust out the A&P book after the test to refresh myself on introns and exons. :-)

I'm just going through and making sure that I at least know everything in the book, and then looking for more details outside of the book when I come across a practice test question that seems to run a little deeper than the book.

I think they want the basics of each system but a little bit more in depth like if they mention a nephron you know they are talking about the urinary system and kidneys even though nephron is not mentioned in the ati study manual

My practice test had a lot of hard chemistry questions that were not mentioned in the study manual such as finding the oxidation number and neutralizing equation ...:unsure::no:

A lot of people say the online tests are way harder so I'm hoping that is true!!!

Ohhhh and another thing lol I would skim over hormones in ur anatomy book because they mentioned 2 specific hormones on the online test I took :arghh:

Did you take version A or B? Or both?

I've only done A. I'm waiting until Monday to do version B online, at which point I will reassess my level of stupidity :roflmao:
