Riverside Community College Fall 2015 RN

Anyone applying for RCC's Fall 2015 Nursing program?

Thought I'd start a thread to communicate about applying, TEAS, etc.

This is all just a tad bit confusing, so for those of us who have kaiser, we are still supposed to request titers even though we show immunity? Is that required for those who haven't had the vaccination? I have an appointment with the health office right before I go to Kaiser for my physical. The nurse is supposed to call me to go over my immunizations. Hopefully this is not too confusing!

Yes I was confused as well and when I spoke to the Nurse working in the health center she stated even if immunity is shown titers need to be done. I'm sure she can clear it all up because in was confused as well. She also said that to make sure everything is stamped because some Kaisers don't have their own personal stamp which I was also confused about lol .

Has anyone done their background check yet?

Yes I put mine through on Saturday night it says it can take up to 10 days I don't know if that's including weekends or just business days

Has anyone done their background check yet?

I haven't because the email didn't mention it. I didn't know if it was something they would discuss at intake?

Yeah maybe it just says have it done by July 31st so you have plenty of time or by July 20th if you want to try & get priority registration

I rather just get everything out of the way then worry about the books, supplies, uniforms, etc on intake day

I got my email about getting the drug screen done today (since I started my background check), so after my RCC health dept tomorrow I am going to head there and try to get that out of the way. I will let you guys know what they say about titers and everything tomorrow after my appt! It's early.

Hey everyone,

I just had my meeting with RCC to go over the immunizations and to get my TB done.

You will need to get titers done for Varicella, MMR, and HepB. Even if you have all of your vacccinations and have had the chicken pox. They told me that Kaiser does not like to order titers, and they will just look at your shot record and ask if you've had the chickenpox and say you are immune. So you have to tell them that you can not get into the program unless you get titers done. For polio though your shot record confirms that you are immune and then nurse helping you at RCC will fill that out for you.

It takes a few days for the results from the titers and Kaiser will put them online, so you could print your results, take them back to RCC (I will take it back when I go for my 2nd TB shot next week) and they will fill it out your form.

The flu shot is waived for everyone till the fall.

I also did my drug screening at quest on brockton, that was super easy. Just take the form they email you after you start your background check (it took 2 days to get mine in my email) and you pee in a cup and sign a paper.

To get your titers, adult Tdap, TB shots and physical at RCC it will cost you $181. If you have insurance though your titers, physical and immunizations should be free after you pay your copay.

If you get it done at RCC you will pay there but get sent to a quest place to get your blood drawn.

I think that's all the questions I can answer!

Good luck everyone! :)

You're AWESOME!! :)

Thank you so much for the thorough update, it is greatly appreciated considering I have to deal with Kaiser this Friday 😄

I'd like to add for those of you who do not have insurance can go to any of these places and get the Tdap vaccine for $10 (based on income- however, they did not even verify my income) the nurse at RCC gave me this paper because for that particular vaccine costs $45 through RCC

other than that the titers, both TB tests, and the physical cost me about $90
