Rio Salado HCR 240 Human Pathophysiology

Greetings everyone,

I am considering taking HCR240 online with Rio Salado as I have read good things about the class on here. I was looking at their syllabus tonight and there are several chapters expected to be covered each week. Can any current or former students of this class elaborate on how to cover 4-6 chapters in one week? Are powerpoints provided that the quiz material comes from? It looks like the class is all quizzes and essays and a final exam. Any advice or input you could provide to help me decide whether to take this class with them is greatly appreciated.

If I recall there is no proctored exam. It is all open book.

I just enrolled in HCR 240 and am trying to purchase the required text. The "mini syllabus" states you need the textbook with an online access code; however, I saw a post on Rate My Professor stating that it wasn't necessary to purchase a new textbook with this code. Does anyone know if thats truly the case?? I'm hoping to save some money and buy a used version of the textbook instead of a new one with code. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I took the course last summer...assuming things have not changed, you do not need the online access code. An older text will be just fine and for most of the work I used other previous course texts (A&P, micro,etc) for my references and citations. Take a breather...the class was fairly easy, just time consuming with some basic research and writing.

I didn't need the access code last year either. When in doubt, emailing the professors to ask specifically if they derive any course points from feature of the access code website is smart to do. A lot of times in the community college coursework there is one generic syllabus for a class and the school tells them what book they have to list and it's usually the newest one with all the bells and whistles. If you email the teacher they can clarify for you (:

Hoping this thread isn't too dead...

I am looking at taking HCR240 this summer either at MCC online or Rio online. Do you have any recommendations as to which college might be better (easier)? Also, how lengthy are the essays for this class (ie 1 page, 2 page, etc)?

I can only speak for Rio, as that is where I took this class. I don't know ho wit compares to MCC. Anyway - I found it pretty easy with Rio. It's worth noting though that this is a class you should really try hard in (even if you find it easy) because you will need the info from this class A LOT in nursing school!
