Hello. I haven't seen a thread for Rio Hondo ADN Spring 2024 applicants so I made one for anyone else who is applying and has questions or wants to keep in touch for the application process.
Best of luck to everyone!

I wouldn't give up yet, they might have sent acceptances to a few people, then will wait for those people's responses before sending out other acceptances. Plus they have to wait until all seats are filled before they start sending out waitlisted emails. People apply to many schools at once and will accept their spot, but dropout later if they get in elsewhere that meets their needs more (commute time, etc).
The email stated we have to send in our acceptance or denial of admission by Tuesday, October 10th. So the next batch of emails will probably come after that!

Thank you! I suppose I'll maybe know on the 10th. :)
Hi everyone, I was given a spot as an alternate for the program.
If given spot, I'll just take the opportunity because nursing programs are highly competitive.
Congrats to those who got accepted; and good luck and wish everyone best. Those who haven't heard back, don't lose hope, there are still chances of you getting in. Take any opportunity that is given to you cause you never know this your way to your success ❤️
By the way I received the alternate spot letter today. And last date to accept alternate spot is Wednesday, Oct 11
I'm assuming they're sending letter for alternate spot this week as application are deciding whether to decline or accept.
does anyone know how many students are they admitting to the program and how many are given alternate spot? Or chances of alternate getting a spot for the program ?

According to the California BRN, it looks like they enroll 80 students annually, so probably around 40 students each semester. I'm not sure about how alternates are chosen. RH doesn't provide much info on that. But seeing that they have a point system, I'm assuming alternates may be chosen based on who has the next highest points.

I was also selected as an alternate and was wondering the same thing!

I have seen previous threads that some alternatives went through the whole 1st sem of the program. Students who fail the program they are removed from the program and their spots are given to alternates. Some say if you're high on their alternate list they'll move you up if someone did not complete their addition requirements for the admission.
I replied to accept my spot as an alternate and Nancy said she'll send an email regarding Castle Branch and requirements.
from previous threads Castle branch seems like a link where student upload their documents such as background check, vaccination record, etc.
I wish they give us more guidelines what to expect as an alternate and our chances of getting a spot. I don't want to spend a lot of money for the requirements they are asking from alternates just to find out they cannot give a spot

Thank you for the info! I also emailed Nancy accepting my spot. How quickly did she reach back out to you?
