I am in the 2nd semester of the RN program there. In april it will be my 3rd semester. I didn't take my LPN program there though. Good luck and congrats. There are a lot of negative things said about rets, but just remember you only get what you put into a program. Rets has a good passing rate for the boards so study hard and apply your self and you will be fine. Good luck.

Hello.. I'm currently a student at RETS. I graduate next month with my LPN. Program isn't too bad, the first term will be the hardest, but there are great teachers in first term! (Lisa Lambdin is absolutely fabulous..she's actually going to pin me at graduation!) Second and third term will fly by, at least they did for me! Things change everyday there at RETS, so try not to get too frustrated, just remember, it's only a year! :) Good Luck!!

I graduated from Rets for my LPN as well as my RN. I must be honest...I would have not gone back for my RN but there was no waiting list. Out of 40 in our class, 16 (as of last count) did NOT pass boards the first time. Not a good percentage rate for sure! The director of nursing position was held by 4 different people in one year! They lost many positions during that year for instructors. We walked in every week to new rules, or another "new policy", or a new face. We started our third term with having to find 120 hours of clinicals on our own due to losing a clinical site. When questions were asked to have clarification, depending on who you asked, you always received a different answer!I hope you all have a better experience than we did. There are some very good instructors there, but the chaos is almost too much too handle. I am still very concerned about the fact that they still DO NOT have accredidation. They are still pending....... In the end, if I had it to do over again I would have held out and waited on a wait list elsewhere. Good luck to you...you will need it!

Monday the 2nd Rets got there accredidation. I don't think you can judge the school on how many people fail their boards ( 16 out of 40) because Rets goes ahead and lets ALOT of people slide through the program that really are not passing. They give too much extra credit so these people who are failing can pass. I get A's and B's without the extra credit and attend all of my classes. I dont skip school just b/c I want to sleep in. I think that needs to be considered. I do agree with you that there is alot of chaos and staff turn over, but you only get out what you put into the program.

You CAN and SHOULD judge a school by their pass rate!!!!! You are writing about this school letting people just "slide" by even if they aren't passing. Are you kidding???? What kind of integrity is that?

I know that I worked very hard for my RN license, (without "sliding through") but it would have been nice to have had an education worth the many $$$$ spent without the extra chaos.

Regardless of what nursing school one attends, the amount of individual work puts in will greatly determine how well one does academically. The RN program at RETS is still in it's infancy, so to speak, so I think it would be a bit premature to brand them with a bad reputation...yet. However, they have a long way to go. I am getting ready to start my last semester there, and though there have been many changes, I've had a good experience overall. Unfortunately, RETS is also a private business, so when it comes to pleasing the customer (i.e., the student) they've bent over backwards too many times and that really needs to stop if they want to attain the kind of reputation for excellence that other schools in the area have. The rules need to be enforced consistently, whether it is in regards to academic, attendance, or behavioral issues.

JJT, aren't you taking NUR 240 this semester? How do you like Fran Roebuck? I had her as an LPN student years ago and loved her! :)

I don't think anyone is letting anyone slide through. Even if they did, all RN's must pass the same boards and must study and know their stuff to pass. I have heard of many schools with students with 95% and still struggle passing their boards, we all pass the same boards.....

ohionurse613 I am not one to try an offend anyone so if that happened I appologize. Mistydave yes there were many students an A&P instructor passed that did not really pass the LPN A&P, and you see them struggle greatly now. Some dont know the diff. between Lantus and novolog and thats basic pharm You can be book smart and pass boards and not know what to do when you get on the floor. NCLEX is base entry level nursing. As with students having 95% and struggling with boards they dont posses critical thinking a nurse needs. And for Fran, I like her many do not, but she has done many things to try and staighten out the NUR 240 Lab. She is always open for suggestions and will change her teaching styles so you learn.

I Have To Agree, I Am One From The Class That 16 Out Of 40 (whatever The Statistics) Failed. I Passed My Boards The First Time And I Feel It Was Because I Did Apply Myself Through Out The Program. Too Many People Did Slip Through The Cracks So To Speak. So If They Stopped That Maybe The Pass Rate Would Get Better!!!!
