Retaking TEAS V

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

So I have about 5 weeks to study to take the TEAS again.

This was my first attempt I'm not proud of because I didn't take it seriously:

Adjusted Individual Total Score:

60.7%

ATI Academic

Preparedness Level:

Proficient

Mean - National:

64.3%

Mean - Program:

70.6%

Percentile Rank - National:

40

Percentile Rank - Program:

21

I need to score at least a 88-90% on adjusted score. :/ The problem is how do I study? I have the ATI study manual from the website and the MCGRAW 5 TEAS practice exams.

How do I focus or even start?

Oh! I forgot to mention I have 5 weeks to study...is that enough to cover both books? lol

I want advice too

Well, here's the awesome part - you have already seen the test and now have an idea of what to expect! Don't let it bother you or make you feel bad, just think of it as a practice run. I wish I could give all tests a practice run... :cat:

I scored in the 86th percentile on my first try. Look at your scores and see if there are any subjects you really don't need much help with. I used the ATI book to study and noticed I was knocking the math portion out with no problem. I stopped studying it because other things (SCIENCE) needed my attention more. Math ended up being my highest score on the test, so have confidence in the stuff you already know. Don't waste your time on it.

Science is not and will never be my favorite or best subject. I hadn't taken A&P prior to the TEAS, so I felt really disadvantaged. I read the science section in the book and I also read Anatomy and Physiology made incredibly easy. When I took the practice tests in the book, I would just check to see if my answers were right or not. I didn't look at the correct answers because I wanted to be able to retest and see if I had learned what the true answers were. Science still ended up being my lowest score, but it was much higher than it would have been if I hadn't utilized those books.

Good luck!

Get teas book their production. Forgot about others. I know it's kinda expensive. I am sure you are first language English speaker. So focus on math and other area that you need. I am second language English speaker and passed first attempt. I see most people struggling math part. Which is actually very easy.

Just study ATI TEAS V book !

Hi backwardo. I've taken the test twice and although I did better the 2nd time, I didn't get enough to pass. I did get this semester and got a 4.0. I have one more oppurtunity to pass or I have to wait till the fall to take it again. I score all high points on the study guide, but when i got the actual test, it seemed totally different. Do you have any tips? I've know in my heart for years that I want to be anurse, and I want to pass this test. I realldon't know what else to do, and I studied an adequate amount of time time

This test very easy test .. Trust me nursing school is way harder than TEAS test. Please don't misunderstand me, I am not trying to be rude or so. Epically nclex test not even comparable with TEAS ..

Hi!!! 5 weeks should be plenty of time to study especially since you have already had one attempt and know what to expect. I took the teas v in July for the first time and scored a 93. Here are a few things I did...

1. Bought the teas v study guide with the online practice tests. I think this is the best thing I did! In my opinion the questions on the test were based off most of the info in the study guide!!! I covered everything in the study guide after finding my weak points.

2. Before even looking at the study guide I took the 1st online practice test to find my weak areas. At the end of the practice test there is a list of things that you should concentrate on based on questions you missed during the practice test. Once I had these I began to concentrate on those specific areas using the study guide. My weak areas were science and math so I spent a couple of weeks every day working on reviewing math and science. If I couldn't figure out certain topics using the study guide (ie the periodic table) then I used the Internet or old text books to dive deeper until I felt very comfortable.

3. After studying for approx. 2 weeks I took the second practice test and again started to review the areas where I was weak. During these 2 weeks I also reviewed my stronger areas.

4. The last week I took the 1st and 2nd practice test again and began timing myself so I got a feel for how long I had per question. I also took the written practice exams in the back of the study guide.

Just a side note when I took the practice exams I always treated them as if I was taking the real exam. I will also say there are a bunch of people on you tube who have posted videos on how to study. I watched a few of these to get some of the above ideas. :)

Good luck to you!!!!!

NCLEX not as hard as TEAS?

You didn't break down your specific scores for TT he four sections. Your overall score doesn't mean dwuat. If you did better in one area than the others, then don't study that area. Provide more info.

I don't think you're rude at all. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I've studied for a number of weeks for teas, scored well on practice tests, and had a friend of mine quiz me on science questions, which I got all of them right. I'm retaking the test at the end on January. Do you have any tips?
