Resurrection University (West Suburban College of Nursing) Spring 2011 applicants

U.S.A. Illinois

Hi all!

I'm in a process of applying to the Resurrection University (formerly West Suburban College of Nursing) for BSN Spring 2011 program (generic 16 months option). I started this thread to get and give some support along the process. Let's help each other out and maybe get know better before the semester starts! I'm about to start my final (fall) semester at Wilbur Wright College, I already took the TEAS exam, submitted my online application, letters of recommendation and essay. I'm just waiting for my official transcript with summer school grades. I'll be going for the guaranteed admission program. If anyone has questions or just want to share his/hers experiences- please post your comments! GOOD LUCK Y'ALL !! :)

Thanks for that info. It makes me feel alot better and it gives me more options to think about. I really appreciate it.

Hey Everyone!

I'm considering applying to ResU for the fall 2011. I'm thinking I should do the part-time evening option because I have a full-time job. Have any of you heard the success rate of the part-time program? How are the other students doing in the part-time program? Are they struggling to balance night classes with weekend clinicals and studying the material so they can get good grades? Any feedback would be great! Also, I've been doing a bunch of research online about nursing shortages. I keep hearing from new grads all over the country that there is NO NURSING SHORTAGE and they are having a HARD time finding a job as a nurse. The problem is since they are new grads, most hospitals/companies want applicants to have at least 1 year's worth of nursing experince before applying for a job. Do you know if ResU will place their students in a job after graduation??? Please reply back! Thanks!

If the program is year round, if you go to school Spring 2011, when do you finish? Dec 2012?

Hi flowerpop

I have no idea about the part-time program at ResU because I dont go there, there is in fact a shortage of nurses. The reason why new grads are having a hard time finding jobs is because we are still in a recession. So while hospitals do have a shortage of nurses, they simply cant afford to take more on. I work in a hospital so everyday I come home and my body feels like I got beat up because we all have to pick up the slack, I know there's a shortage :)

May I ask the students who have been accepted to ResU, how much is the tuition for the 16 month Generic BSN program? I just received an information packet from them but it didnt mention the tuition?

Hi everyone.

To all of you who started the nursing program this semester, i was wondering how are you enjoying it so far?

If the program is year round, if you go to school Spring 2011, when do you finish? Dec 2012?

If you start in Spring 2011 you graduate in May 2012 for the generic BSN. The evening/weekend program is one semester longer so you would finish in Dec 2012. If you fail a class, you will be pushed back an entire semester.

Someone was asking about tuition...it's 10,618 per semester (generic BSN). So the total would be around $42,472.

Do you guys know if it's hard to get into ResU's nursing program ?? and what are there requirements??

Thanks

i am a current student. the pro of the school is 16 months and your out. the cons are many, disorganized, expensive, no teacher help, mainly independent study. they have just had their status lowered by the higher learning commission here is the link http://ncahlc.org/component/option,com_directory/action,showbasic/itemid,184/instid,2010/lang,en/

it goes to show how unorganized the structure of the university is. i would not reccommend this as a first or second or third choice.

i'm currently applying to the school and called and asked to speak to the president directly after i read what you linked to. she assured me that the school is still accredited and what happen was they got a "public slap on the wrist" for their governing structure, which they are correcting, and that their academic program is as strong as it has been and there are no issues with it. she told me if anyone had questions they could call and speak directly to her. i think her name was dr. brooks but if you ask for the president they can get you to her.

Does anyone have the skinny why they dropped the Spring start date for the evening and weekend program and bumped all of the accepted people to the fall of 2011?

is it hard to get in if u have a good gpa and good grades but low test score like in the 60s

I know some people that had around a 3.1/3.2 GPA and TEAS in the 60s and got accepted. But I know that they have more applicants now than before.
