RESUME!!

Published

Hi everyone, its good to be alive!

Please, can anyone tell me how many pages should a resume have.

I did mine and it was 5 pages and i am a bit concerned. Thx much.

WHOA yeah...5 pages is way too much. My class that's about to graduate in 2 weeks had a nurse recruiter/HR specialist come talk to our class about resumes, job interviews, etc and warned us about going over 1 page, 2 MAX, and she said that most places won't even look at your resume if it's got two pages stapled together.

It sounds like you might have a lot of stuff on there that you think you might need but is either irrelevant OR can be condensed way down. I used to write resumes for people before nursing school as a side job and could almost always take a 2 or 3 page resume and streamline it to one page. It's possible, too, that if there's stuff you just don't want to get rid of, it can be addressed in a cover letter.

Google resume examples, for nurses in particular, or use a formatting program, and see if your school offers resume and cover letter seminars.

Thank you so much, im gonna try condensing it and ill let u know how it goes

I agree: 5 pages is a lot, and I don't think many interviewers will bother to pore past page 2.

One page is best; two pages should be the limit. Go through your resume and see what information could be streamlined or even removed. You don't need to list every single job you had on it, just those that are most recent and/or pertinent to nursing. Of course, if you are a new grad, you may want to keep some of the non-nursing jobs for the skills/experience they gave you.

Let us know! We would be glad to help. At five pages, you're either 1) typing in a 44 point font, or 2) including a ton of stuff that isn't really going to help you get a job.

Good luck!

Thank you for your comments...appreciate it...44 font...lol wow...point taken though..thx

Hi odeth! 5 pages? no way. make it 1. do you feel ok with posting your revised resume here, with identifiers taken out? it will be easier to give a more specific critique, and I always find specifics to be very helpful. my resume was one page, and i worried that leaving some things out would hurt me. not the case! so try not to worry, and condense!

Ok Miss mRN...i will....thanks
