One of the pre-employment documents I have to fill out is a "Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire."
One of the questions asks:
Check the type of respirator you will use:
a. N, R, or P disposable respirator (filter-mask, non-cartridge type only).
b. Other type (for example, half- or full-face piece type, powered air-purifying, supplied-air, self-contained breathing apparatus).
I'm familiar with the N-95 and also the masks you where for droplet precautions but that's it. Anyone have any idea if I should circle "a." "b." or both "a." and "b." for a med/surg position?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds kinda strange to me. I would guess that this information is used to plan what type of training/testing will be required as part of your orientation. However, the type of PPE (personal protective equipment) needed is dictated by the circumstance and potential for exposure & the organization's policies .... not by personal preference. Are they asking you what kind of gloves you prefer? Favorite isolation gown color? LOL
I don't understand how you could possibly know this information in advance. If you find out, let us know also . .

Thanks for your reply HouTx.
Yeah, I thought it was strange too. I'm not exactly sure what they're looking for. It would be a pretty awesome if they cared about my color preferences for PPE. haha. I choose pink!
I'll post if I find out any info about this.
