Resources

I'm not sure if this thread exists but I thought it would be nice to share some of the online/offline resources with each other.

CDC Pinkbook- Tons of Vaccine info AND it has a section that helps translate vaccinations from other countries.

Pinkbook | Home | Epidemiology of Vaccine Preventable Diseases | CDC

Visual Guide to common rashes

Visual guide to children's rashes and skin conditions - Photo Gallery | BabyCenter

Prevention and control of communicable diseases- It has guidelines for how long kids should be out of school and info sheets that can be printed out to give to the parents/guardians

School nurse.com- Has a little bit of everything!

What others do you guys use?

I went to govdelivery.com and subscribed to a bunch of newsletters and updates--I may have gone overboard but my favorites are the FDA updates (recalls!) and the CDC and Medline newsletters. You can pick and choose.

I found that tylenolprofessional.com will send you samples quarterly, plus coupons and dosing guideline tearsheets. You have to create an account and need your license number.

Bayer will do the same thing, they make Rid and A and D ointment, plus Aleve, Alka-Seltzer, etc. (for staff).

Nix will send you a coupon book. The LiceGuard Robicomb people will send you a coupon [email protected].

I'm sure there are much more (I love free samples!). I am just starting to discover my resources. Squeeeeee!!! So much fun!

Conjunctivitis (and some other eye stuff) charts I use:

Also, for those of use working with the older kids, I use this for palpation of ankle injuries (isn't recommended for use for folks under 18, but does give a good guide for possible x-ray needed in teens): http://www.ohri.ca/emerg/cdr/docs/cdr_ankle_poster.pdf

School Nurse Procedures |

It breaks down a variety of procedures based on the body system. It was a nice review of things I haven't done yet as a school nurse :)

I may be late to the game, but I didn't know poison control had a web based triage!
