Hello I am in nursing research and they want us to develop a research proposal and use the steps in the research process. This isn't a paper. It is like an outline. I have trouble coming up with a topic that has a theoretical framework. Please suggest any topics. I want something simple, not complex.I was going to do something about patient noncompliance in taking their medication. Something in that area. But I don't know what theoretical framework to use and what type of intervention to use. I don't even know what kind of patient are non compliant in taking their med.....prob someone with a chronic disease eg. high BP, high cholesterol..........please help me out...I just finished one semester

for noncompliance: psychiatric patients. As one myself, I know that med compliance is a big issue for this population

Another popultaion that can be non-conpiant is diabetics, they can be non-compliant with meds, diet, testing blood sugars etc.

I did a research paper on obesity in children. There is a lot of info about it and it is a growing problem in the US.

The theoretical framework for any non-compliance issue could be based on the Self-Efficacy Model. People must believe that they have the ability to follow through or perform a task (such as taking medication) in order to actually do it. Try looking this up because I'm not sure if this is the actual name of the model, I just remembering using something similar at some point.

I feel you. I had a hard time coming up with a topic myself. I asked this bb for suggestions. I finally decided on "Family Presence During CPR". I hate coming up with research topics. Good luck.

Tweety - I did my masters thesis on Family Presence during CPR - lots of information and everyone (including my instructor) loved it. That is always a solid topic.

I find it interesting (and sad) to see the large numbers of students who are unprepared to complete their research assignments. As someone who has always wanted to teach beginner-level research, but never had the chance, it is disheartening to see the instructors doing such a poor job in teaching this important subject.

Perhaps a good topic would be: "The level of student preparedness for completing research course assignments."
