Hello. I am a nursing student in an ADN program. I am having to write a research paper for pharmacology. I can't come up with a research topic! Help!! Any ideas would be appreciated. One of my children have epilepsy and since it's so close to my heart I thought I might travel down that road, but that's as far as I can get. Any ideas on something more specific?!?!?!
Even if evidence-based research may be begun with a passionate thought, it's a bad idea to write up research with passion. It shows that your objectivity is lost...which defeats the purpose of research. I can't tell you how many "passionate" student papers I've read that lack all objectivity and as a result ignore anything that doesn't fit their preconceived notions and desires. They are poor papers. DISpassionate is what you should be trying for.
And no, I do not believe that a student at this level has the competence to write passionately AND objectively. Never seen it happen. Nope. Zilch. Nada. OK, so you're a special snowflake ... not.
I said nothing about passionate thought. I said something you are passionate about. If you are passionate about something you are more likely to want to go through all the troubles as you will need to complete the research paper. If you are passionate about pediatrics like myself your research will go the long road to complete it and do a good job at it. If I was, to say, do a research paper about OB I would do the least amount of work and not be to concerned about if I made my point or not as much as I would care about my pediatric research paper doing the job right. If you are not passionate about your work, your work will fail in comparison!

Yes, just scholarly.
