Are there any of you that are currently researching the pros/cons of the consumption of GMO's (Genetically Modified Organisms)? This is a very heated debate currently going on around the world. I was curious to see if any studies were being conducted. Thank you.

There's actually quite of a bit research on GMO's and it's health effects on animals and humans, which overall shows GMO's to be safe.

Here's an article that lists much of the research to date that you can look up and review:

The Debate About GMO Safety Is Over, Thanks To A New Trillion-Meal Study - Forbes

I have been researching GMO products and feel there needs to be a proper protocol. From my research, I found many studies performed however the FDA allows to GMO companies themselves to pick and choose their study. Then the FDA also allows the companies to preform their own study for reporting. This has cause for alarm. While natural selection and GMO products have always been bred. It's only since 1995 that these companies began altering products through unnatural processes. Incidentally, this also coincides with increased obesity, Autism, ADHD and higher prevalence of neurological decencies. I also found a GMO company that fought the state of CA spending in excess of millions to assure the FDA would not enforce mandatory DNA sequence labeling. Therefore, for consumers it doesn't matter whether the products are safe since we have no idea of what we are actually ingesting. This is a study that needs to take precedent for our future generations.

You could do a literature search and find a plethora of articles on GMO's both pro and con. As for me, I avoid GMO's. I am not currently working on any trials regarding GMO's but I would be most interested in reading about new or current research regarding them. This sort of research would most likely occur in Academia. Getting funding from the government to do this sort of research is a long, slow, arduous process which would inhibit many from completing this sort of work.
