what are the requirements for 91WM6?

Published

Sorry, I am brand spanking new on this thing. I would like to know what AIT would consist of. Also, I am an EMT-B and I will have my CNA by the time I leave for the Warriors Transition Course. I am going to make sure my recruiter puts it in writing that I get the 91WM6, but what are the prereqs? I would assume that I would still go through the 91W course but what about the M6? my recruiter really has no idea. I would really like as much info as I can possibly get so that I can study and be more profeciant in AIT. I was a 63W my first enlistment. My recruiter told me the best thing to do right now is to go reserve because there are 6 slots open in a unit for the 91WM6. Then I could wait 6 months and go full time. I am trying for my RN. I did not realize that an RN is an officer. With that, how many college credits do you need to be comissioned? I have human development, intro to psych and algebra. will this help?

I can now answer all my own questions, since I went to MEPS and enlisted.

I did not get the M6 in my contract, contrary to the promise made by the recruiters. MEPS said prior-service personnel could not get M6 in their contract; only fresh recruits could.

Seeing that I was not going to get what I was promised, I enlisted for one year only. The plan is negotiate with the unit to get the M6 in the re-enlistment contract, or just walk out after a year.

I did get a waiver granted for my medical problem.

I am going to enroll in anatomy, physiology, microbiology.... at a local JC, in case I don't get M6 from my unit either.

I'm sorry but the information about prior service not being able to get M6 is untrue. Unless they just changed it, prior service makes up 1/3 of the incoming M6 classes, not kidding at all.

  1. Seems odd to me the way this particular MEPS poorly treats prior service. What MOS did you end up with? 91W?
  2. A one year enlistment contract also sounds odd. Did you read that contract from top to bottom, inside & out?
  3. If you in fact enlisted w/91W MOS, then your Unit may be receptive to your request for M6 school. However, you realize another contract with more time back to the Army will follow? Oops, I guess you do since you mentioned M6 in the re-enlistment contract.

I'm going to meps this tues... I made the scores for m6 but they recruiters are already giving me a problem... it hard to get into they say... you can go 91 w first and then do m6... they make it sound like breaking into fort knox... I wonder why they say this? Is it because they have to many already going into this field or what!! I'm prior so they prob. will tell me something like you can't go into that, its only for newbies. Well at least my dad is going with me to help me talk to the meps guys and read the contract. Feel kinda silly cause i've done this before but I hate talking to those guys, their so pushy.

any advise?

thanks

I was one of the lucky ones where they offered M6 to me. However I have heard from my peers that if you're persisitent and stubborn and threaten to walk on them if they don't get you M6, it'll work. it just might take some time. It's true that it's very hard to get in because so many people want it. To get it after going through 91W is no guarantee. We heard the same things and no one from my company got M6 who weren't signed up already.

MaoKhan,

I just signed 91WM6 and ship 25Jan and have a coupe questions for you if you don't mind. When do you find out where your Phase II site will be? I have looked at the training schedules and I am pretty sure I will end up at WRAMC but not sure.

About WRAMC...............What are the living arrangements there? Can you have a POV?

Thanks

MoaKhan..................sent you an email.:)

hey cola

sent you an e-mail

Can you get m6 through the NG? Just wondering about it.

in my class, we are composed of only reservists and active duty, no NG. not saying it's impossible, but I dont know of any NG M6, btw we just finished our last tests and will be taking the NCLEX for our nursing license in maybe 2 weeks time, wish us luck :)

Prior service not being able to get into the M6 program is BS!!!! I am currently in the program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.c. and there are more PRIOR SERVICE (e-4's, e-5's, and 3 e-6's) in my class than there are peole like me (first enlistment). When my class started we had 68 soldiers...only 23 of us were on our first enlistment...don't let them BS you guys.

I agree! I know many 91WM6 Soldiers with prior service in a different MOS.

Good luck!
