Hi Gentlemen (extrastinky and droop), I was told that the tuition does not depend on how many units you take. The school told me they charge by the semester, so even if I take 11 units a semester, I would still have to pay the full price for the semester, as if I were taking 15 units. Have you heard anything like that before?

Hi folks, please help me understand this- ELMSN is not a Masters Degree? Entry Level Masters of Science in Nursing sounds like a degreel, doesn't it? So it is not really a degree? So what is it? A certificate of completion?

I can now answer all my own questions, since I went to MEPS and enlisted. I did not get the M6 in my contract, contrary to the promise made by the recruiters. MEPS said prior-service personnel could not get M6 in their contract; only fresh recruits could. Seeing that I was not going to get what I was promised, I enlisted for one year only. The plan is negotiate with the unit to get the M6 in the re-enlistment contract, or just walk out after a year. I did get a waiver granted for my medical problem. I am going to enroll in anatomy, physiology, microbiology.... at a local JC, in case I don't get M6 from my unit either.

After completing M6, what type of college credits would most civilian colleges grant me? Would they grant me: Physiology and Anatomy (1 yr)? Microbiology (1 semester)? Psychology of human growth and development (1 semester)? College Chemistry (1 semester)? Nutrition? Sociology?

Hi IMACKS4, thanks for the kind note. I am only interested in Army Reserves. Would MEPS insist on 6 yrs active reserves and 2 yrs IRR? I only want to do at most 4 yrs active reserves and 4 yrs IRR. Would they go for it? Since I am prior service, I do not need to do Basic again, so the whole thing would only be 52 wks (LPN) plus 16 wks (medic school). I agree with you that I will just stick to 4/4 and settle for nothing less and walk out if they don't accept. What do you think?

Hi Corvette Guy, My recruiter only wants to sit me in front of the MEPS counselor. He basically says anything is possible and just go in and ask away. I want to enlist in the Reserves only and would like to do only 4 yrs active reserves and 4 yrs IRR. I don't know if that's feasible. I am afraid going to MEPS will be like going to a used car lot. Do counselors have auth or flexibility in terms of how many years one can enlist for when it comes to LPN school? I know the SRR (service remaining requirement) for Army Reserves is only 24 months (maybe less nowadays) and the training is 52 wks plus 14 wks. Since I am prior service, I do not need to do Basic again. So I plan to go in to MEPS tomorrow and stick to 4/4 and just walk out if they won't sell the "used car" to me. At most I would pay is 4/4. I am about to enlist as an Army Reserves LPN tomorrow morning. How long (or short) of an enlistment contract would the MEPS people require me to sign? I know enlistment contracts are all for 8 years, but I am talking about the active reserves portion, not the IRR portion. Would the MEPS people be willing to let me enlist for the bare minimum: 3.5 yrs only (ie 1.5 yrs training + 2 yrs SRR)? Or would they tell me to take a hike?

Does that mean nowadays I can enlist for less than 3.5 yrs (1.5 training + 2yr SRR)? Would MEPS go for a 3yr enlistment for LPN training? How updated is the link you cited? Thanks again!
