Requesting Roommates/Travel Buddies

Travel buddies are not services or goods, they are friends. Isn't that what forums are meant to promote?

Hopefully you won't take this as arguing with a moderator (I've never participated in the kind of threads you describe so this certainly is not personal), but as a constructive discussion. I understand that it has always been Allnurses policy not to have commercial activity, but seeking unpaid travel companions is not commercial activity and looking for travel companions is a common post here for many years. Cutting out such innocent discussions may only drive more traffic to FB.

I agree with Ned here. The FB groups are already pretty active but I like the allnurses forum for other reasons. Why not allow posting for travel buddies its help build relationships and its really not commercial in any way. Can we have a more in depth reason why this is banned? Not to cause trouble but I am actually curious.

I 3rd this I know there are groups on facebook...but I've got my reasons for not wanting to be on facebook. This seems harmless, and not like soliciting or advertising ? I'm about to start my first travel assignment, and think that finding travel buddies sounds like a great idea.

Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, email address, forum, business, MLM, activity, personal blogs, or other entities with which you have an affiliation including non-profit sites (ie. no self-promotion).

Activity is a really inclusive category. Isn't travel nursing an activity? Seems fair enough to promote the same theme as the specific AllNuses forum and helping members connect unless it conflicts with another Terms of Service item.

Harm can certainly be done by posting email addresses to connect with fellow travelers for any reason, but Allnurses maintains a private messaging service for their members which can avoid this harm. I've often wondered why Allnurses doesn't automatically block publicly posted email addresses to help prevent damage.

Kudos by the way for your recent legal defense to help protect anonymity here specifically as well as the broader Internet.

I had FB prior to nursing school and then made the awesome decision to get rid of it. I'm hearing more and more that everyone uses it as a resource when doing travel assignments. How so? I'm finishing my first assignment and I don't want to make the leap back into that social media unless I know it would be worth it. What do you all use it for? What info has it helped you obtain that you couldn't find here or other resources? Any info would be awesome! Thanks!
