Hi all,
The health minister in Trinidad and Tobago has brought a bill in parliament for debate with regards to the removing of the nursing council registration examination to fill the shortage of nursing in the country. He claims that as long as one is enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, there is no need to write a registration exam to be employed as a nurse. Additionally, he claims that there is no purpose for a licensure exams as other professionals are not required to write such as exam.
Any advise please....

just because you go to school and pass doesn't mean that you have learned anything. I see this as a recipe for disaster, even if it is going on in another country. WOW

Many professions in my country require a licensing examination. Physicians and attorneys for example.
If he means that someone enrolled in an accredited school of nursing that is even more frightening. Students who haven't completed the program caqnnot know what a new nurse knows.
It seems the Health Minister needs to communicate with leaders of the profession of nursing.
registered nurses from Trinidad and Tobago are highly regarded here. This could change that.
