Perhaps some do plan on that - while, others merely had dreams of working in intensive care :)

jlanders; I am also graduated from RCON, I'm sorry to say that; we do not have any option to go CRNA programs or any other master related degree. Because, RCON is not regionally accredited school and which is, CRNA type of programs are very competitive and they would not accept RCON graduates besides other regionally accredited Nursing school graduates. I tried to have a job in Orlando area, but even they did not call me for interview. Finally, I got a job in New Hampshire as a intern OR nurse and currently I'm on my job orientation..

Good luck..(because you will need it)

cohort 5 has a student (about to graduate in jan) with an interview already lined up for an icu position and is in close communication with a crna program.

furthermore, rcon has several students in master's degree programs...

there is a very small number of schools that only accept regional accreditation. in fact, most require national accreditation (which rcon has).

jennyjenbsn, I did some basic research and you are definitely not correct about being able to go on to do CRNA or any other masters program. It would keep you out of a regionally accredited program but there are MANY programs that are not regionally accredited. So I am going to have to say that discredits everything you say.

babyspike, it is my understanding that you need a minimum of 1 year ICU experience for any CRNA program. Are there programs that you can apply to before you graduate with your BSN?

I think Jennyjenbsn has correct informations about the program. I was accepted from RCON and I went to University of Miami. The reason was; after making some research I realized RCON did not recognized regionally. So, that mean is it's very difficult to get in CRNA or NP programs with that degree. University of Miami accredted both regionally&nationally and less expensive than RCON, both 12 months programs so why I should go to RCON's nursing program? Note;I am just finishing my first semester here and already I got many job offers and scholarships from Miami hospitals.

No. If I am not mistaken - most do require minimum of 1 year ICU experience to apply :)

The woman in cohort 5 is an exceptional student - with great connections. So, she just remains in close contact with the CRNA school she plans to attend; once she graduates and obtains that 1 year minimum experience.

......and my best advice for upcoming years Nursing students, Please and please make very detailed research about the program where you applying. Even, if they do not required face to face interview just go there and make a observations about the school and also if possible try to talk with their current students. So, do not spend your money for buisness type Nursing schools.

I think, Every Nursing Schools has many pro's and also con's.

But, I would not waste my money and my time for unaccredited Nursing Schools.Of course Regional accredition could be very significant issue for any kind higher education and it could be huge problem for hiring process to the local Hospitals and government related jobs.

I'm graduated last year and currently working at Publix (1400 E Colonial Dr, Orlando). If you may have any questions please come over and ask cashier Kim.

Specializes in Research.

My wife is an RN with Orlando Health and about 3/4 of her orientation class in March were new RNs from Remington. It doesn't seem that they're having a problem getting jobs here in Orlando, although you may have to get your foot in the door in an RN position you don't want and transfer later. As it would be after coming from any school, if you don't make the contacts and show interest while doing clinicals, you probably won't get your dream position right out of school.

I know that Remington grads are getting hired here in Orlando (although they may not be doing their dream jobs yet) and we've got 2 new large hospitals opening next year at Lake Nona (Nemours and the VA hospital). Add to that the fact that Orlando Health is no longer hiring RNs with an ADN, all current nursing students at the local community colleges will be fighting for RN to BSN spots and you've got the making of a shortage of BSN nurses between now and the end of 2012 here in Orlando.

When I saw all this coming together, I decided to apply to Remington for January 2012. I was granted early acceptance a few weeks ago. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Congratulations cdscmb!! :)

And, thank you for your personal *actual* experience insight!
