Relocating to Tampa Florida

Published

Hello allnurses!

I am currently looking to relocate to the Tampa, FL area due to my husbands job and I am looking for reviews of facilities. I noticed that Florida hospital advertises sign on bonuses and relocation assistance. Does anyone know more details regarding the relocation assistance? What is the working environment like? More specifically, I am considering applying to Florida Hospital Carrollwood. We are considering living in Land O Lakes, Lutz or Westchase as my husbands employer is in the North Tampa area and we are looking for good schools for our High School aged daughters. Also, what is typical starting pay in the area for a hospital job? I would prefer to work full time days and I have over 8 years experience on a med/surg Pulmonary floor with a step down unit/PCU (tele, vents, trachs, BLS and ACLS certified). Are there other facilities with better working environments/pay/benefits/sign on bonus/relocation assistance?

Thanks!

I started at Florida Hospital Tampa a few weeks ago in the nurse residency program and I love it. Everyone I have met so far has been so kind. The atmosphere there is great. Pay is based on experience there. I'm not sure about the specifics at the Carrolwood location.

Hi, Tabi,

I have a lot of friends who work at FL Hospital in several locations in Orlando; however, I believe their philosophy would be the same in any of their hospitals. ALL of them love working there. When I first moved to Orlando, they had a 6-wk training course for nurses wanting to work L&D. It was awesome course. I worked with them until they closed the unit in the smaller hospital where I worked. The only reason I started working with another hospital system at that time was closer location.

I'm sure their HR would be happy to give you info on your other questions. Good luck!
