Hi I am currently trying to register in canada but my nursing transcript does not seem to meet with their requirements. My training is what it is! and wouldn't be able to qualify had I not completed it. Qualified for ten years so I don't know what is wrong or if I am going to get in. Can anybody help me please

What area did they say you are lacking in? Do you specialize in Ireland like they do in England? We require training in all areas and most provinces are requiring a BSN for initial licensure as well.

They should say what you are lacking in. There usually is an option to catch up what needs making up in Canada before they will allow you to sit CRNE.

Thanks for replying what is a BSN ? They have just written to me asking about caseloads in med surgical paeds and how I looked after patients is this normal practice? As I said I have been qualified for ten years without a break in service I am really concerned !!!:o

Canada training is like the USA which covers all areas Paeds, maternity, mental health as well as general adult. If your transcripts do not show that you did both theory and practical in them areas then the province will more than likely say you are deficient and you will need to make the hours up before they will allow you to sit the CRNE and work as a nurse in Canada

Heya,

BSN is a Bachelor in Nursing science.

They do investigate quite thoroughly if you qualify for the canadian exam, means if your training is equivalent to theirs.

When your transcript doesn't show enough hours for instance they might evaluate your experience to determine if this is sufficient. And it doesn't matter how many years you're allready working in your country. It's Canada's standard that counts.

But don't worry as was said before you'll be able to make up those hours if your lacking some in an area, and that might be the chance for a good review as well:)

Or they might offer you an assessment.

It's all very common.

Where are you applying?

I am applying to edmonton alberta I actually have a degree in science as well. The assessor has said the nursing transcript is not very clear and wants a list of my experience over the last five years which is fair enough. I am more annoyed at my own school which has not provided them with what they want. I have wanted to work in canada for years and only hope I can now get there.:(

Ive just had a transcript prepared by my UNI and I found dealing with them very frustrating. I mean Im sure Im not the only ex-student who has requested a transcript. And they still did not do it properly!!

Have a lot of patience, immigration to any country is very complicated.

Good luck

I think they need to know how many hours but if the transcript is not right then the transcript for thousands of students of that year cant be right!! because we all followed a standard course. I understand practice hours post qualification but this all is not making sense !!

Usually with transcripts they need a break down of hours from where you trained to make sure you meet their requirements. Unfortunately with some training they do not have enough hours in all areas
