Here in North Texas (and Houston) we have a ton of schools and tons of graduates. They are all vying for a very limited amount of new grad positions. I don't think you will get any interest at all here until you are locally living and have a TX license. Even then it will be rough because there is so much competition.
If you are looking in more rural areas of Texas you might have better luck.
I am sorry, I wish I could give you better news.
I have been applying for new grad jobs in Tennessee since before I graduated. No calls.
Then I got an RN job in my home state and kept applying. No calls.
Then I started the process of getting an endorsement license from Tennessee and put a local address on my application.
Got two calls for interviews less than a week later.
I'd at least start the process to get an endorsement license from one state or the other so you can make them aware of that fact, and mention in the first paragraph your cover letters that you are "relocating to the area" so it makes it sound like you're going to be there either way. I don't think paying for flights to interviews is customary in the nursing industry, so it's not a matter of them not wanting to pay you to fly out. They wouldn't do that anyway.

I am a new graduate nurse and my husband and I are looking to relocate to either Texas or Colorado. So far I haven't been able to get an interview. I am only applying to 'new grad' positions and I feel as though my resume and cover letter are solid. Is it that hospitals aren't willing to fly someone from out of state in to interview? Any advice on what I can do to secure an interview? Should I automatically offer up that I am willing to pay my own way for an interview?
Thanks!
