TEN GOOD REASONS FOR JOINING A UNITARIAN-UNIVERSALIST CONGREGATION

I'm not sure how to respond to all these posts. It saddens me. I'm not going to start a debate only because as a Christian, I don't like to argue about religion. Some people just don't get it. If you are seeking peace in your life, then try doing it without Jesus, and let me know how it's working for you.

Speaking as a non-Christian, I'm doing very well, thank you. I'm quite at peace, and my life is right where I want it to be. While I respect your right to your religious beliefs, it would behoove you to recognize that others have their own beliefs, and that they are just as valid for them as yours are for you. :nono:

In the Great Commission Jesus said to preach the gospel to every creature......he also said not to be ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God to those who believe.

That really has nothing to do with whether or not someone can find peace in her life without Jesus. She said to try findong peace without him and tell her how you do. So I told her that I am doing quite well. I am happy for those who have a fulfilling spiritual life as Christians. I am pleased that it works for them. My path works just as well for me. Implying that I cannot find peace without following a particular path is a touch insulting. I didn't say anything about Christians needing to be ashamed of their gospels, nor did I condemn proselytizing. I only stated that I found peace on my spiritual path and that I would thank her to remember that it is possible. She is welcome to her path, I just wish to be left in peace on mine by those who feel that they are the sole keepers of truth. :rolleyes:

It's not life here that I'm talking about, it's eternity.......there's a verse that says God has put eternity into the minds of men. I just am sharing the hope that I have......maybe not very well......

And as a nonChristian, my belief in my eternity is perfectly peaceful also. There is no need to be Christian to ensure a happy afterlife.

At least that is what I wholeheartedly believe...and you are not likely to change that with the same rhetoric that I, as a nonchristian get beaten of the head with, day in and day out.

You believe what you believe and I believe what I believe.

Amen to that.

Hell this is my first time logging in and replying to anything so I hope I am doing this right. Well I read this and I think that it touched my heart. See I am a firm believer of christ but I have been back sliding for awhile now. Me reading this made me realize the importance of my god and what he means to me so I would like to share that testimony. I think its great that nurses can come together and talk about religion. Well I pray that everyone will let god work in their lives. Thanks a bunch for hearing me out.

I often read Billy Graham's column and thought today's was particulary pertinent to our profession. I'm just curious as to your own personal thoughts and feelings on the matter. (Please, no screaming at one another...this is not a debate.)

Dear Mrs. K.W.:
The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the most important event in all history -- and yes, incredible as it may seem, it really did happen.
In fact, it might interest you to know that one of the Gospels was written by a medical doctor (Luke). Like you, he knew that death is final and irreversible -- and yet he also gave us one of the most extensive accounts of Jesus' resurrection from the dead. Why? Because he had thoroughly investigated the evidence for Jesus' resurrection for himself and he knew only one conclusion was possible: Jesus had come back from the dead.
Why is the resurrection important? Why did God raise Jesus from the dead? One reason was to prove that Jesus was who He said He was: the divine Son of God, sent from heaven to save us from our sins. The Bible says that He "was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 1:4). The resurrection sets Jesus apart from every other person who has ever lived.
But the resurrection points to an even greater truth: Death has now been conquered! The grave is not the end, but heaven's doors are now open! Jesus is alive, and He wants to come into your life today. Why not discover this great truth for yourself by turning to Christ today?

The responses to this thread are pretty typical and representative of the views of society as a whole. There are many (like me)who believe with every fiber of their being that Jesus was (and is) the one and only Son of God, sent to earth to pay the punishment for the sins of all men . Who was raised from the dead in eveidence of God's acceptance of Christ's sacrifice as payment in full for the sins of all -- allowing all people access to heaven and eternal life through him. And, there are many who are just as firm in hteir beilefs that there is no God, no heaven or hell. It's Biblical that there is such a widerange of responses -- "the things of God are unexplanable to men"....

So, yes, you are all intitled to your beliefs!! As those of us who believe in the Bible etc are. And while I am not going to preach anymore, I will be praying for you ( and me) and all of us that God will be glorified through all circumstances and situations.

God is good all the time! It hurts my heart to see people in this world who are so unfortunate to not have ever felt the power of the love that Jesus Christ has for them. If you have ever felt His grace and mercy, you would know and understand how it is that Jesus died and rose from the dead. My prayers will be for you that you will one day be able to acknowledge the truthfulness and the fullness of Jesus Christ as the Savior and Redeemer of all believers!
