My worst nightmare just became a reality.
Thursday was hands down a crappy day. I received three rejections in one day. Now I only have one open application to nursing school for the Fall.
Of course I heard the stories of good students getting rejected. But with 2 years of hard work under my belt, and associates at 18, an internship in peds cardiology that turned into a full time position, a 3.75 GPA, and a TEAS score in the 97th percentile I figured I would be all right. I've practically breathed nursing for the past two years and I cannot imagine how to pick up the pieces if I don't get in in the fall.
No one is guaranteed a slot.
I have to wait until July to find out if I get into this last program. Cue the insanity.

That's crazy! Did you get a reason for your rejection?
One school decided on a whim to change their chemistry requirement (I was eligible when I applied but "Due to an influx of applicants" they decided to only accept those who have a year of organic chemistry
Two other schools decided to count courses in progress as C's (change in protocol for 1) which drops my GPA down to a 3.3 so I was politely encouraged to cease contact and "seek out other opportunities for the fall"

Wow I'm so sorry to hear that. I would have thought you would've been very competitive too. I wish you the best of luck with the next program. Is it too late to apply to others as well, just in case?

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm surprised they are allowed to just change requirements when they feel like it! That is so unfair! At my school, if they change requirements, they are required to post those changes for a year before they go into effect. I'm sorry once again, I really, really hope you get accepted at your other choice. Good luck!!

That is very weird. So any classes you are in progress of taking they just automatically give you a C? That doesn't seem quite right. But that's up to the school, as it is their program. I would apply to a few others to see if you get in because it sounds like you would be a great candidate.

That is awful! where are you applying? I don't think our program is nearly that competitive yet!! I am in south jersey and I just applied to my local community college. Im hoping I got in! We will see at the end of march! hopefully the last school comes through for you. I could not imagine applying to four different schools!!

what kind of schools are those? Counting classes in progress as C's can put a lot of applicants to the bottom of the list. And it does seem weird. It's not your fault you didn't get in, you have great stats.

It is not that uncommon to apply additional criteria to help with the selection process if a program is overwhelmed with applications. As long as they apply the same criteria to everyone, it is "fair". Of course, it would have been better for OP to have known about this in advance, but at least the school was honest in their communications.
I am a perpetual optimist, but I don't think the OP was "rejected".... and certainly should not feel that way. OP seems to be highly qualified but just happened to apply at the same time as a horde of better-qualified people. Like many things in life, timing is everything. Maybe the next applicant pool will be much different. Hope Springs Eternal!!
I made the mistake of applying to all state schools (trying to save a dime) in hindsight that wasn't the best idea. If I could do it again I would have applied to several out of states and a few more expensive (gag) private schools. But, oh well. At this point everything I can apply for is $50,000+ a year and out of state. If I don't get into this last school I'm going to stay at my CC for one more year finish the general chem route, get a BS in Biology and apply to nursing grad school and med school.
