What do you think about waiting list?

hi all,

i applied so many nursing schools so far, and i got a call from california state university, northridge for absn. they said that you are "alternative" which means that waiting list for the program. they said that "only 36 students are ever accepted ( 18 summer admits and 18 fall admits) and there are typically more than 400 applicants. the number of admitted students will not change". what do you think you guys about my situation? do you think i have still chance to get in the program? i want to know you guy's opinions about this.

Waiting lists are a bummer! I'm a nursing student as well..I would recommend that you still go ahead and apply, but also look at other avenues of nursing that will help you reach the same or better outcome. Good Luck!!!

An "alternate list" is still good. You'd be suprised how many people back out the last minute to an offer of admission. Consider yourself lucky, it's NOT a 'NO'. It's always a good idea to have a back-up plan though.

I'm getting ready to apply to schools for Fall 2010 and although I would happy to get that acceptance letter, like the previous poster said, an "alternate" is still good because it is not a No. There could be people that do back out at the last minute for various reasons, do you know how high on the alternate list you are?

no.. they did not mention it and they did not give exact answers.

It makes me frustrated.

In my opinion, I would apply to other nursing schools...ADN or BSN programs. Continue to work on your prequisites and keep your GPA up.

I waited 1 1/2 years to get in and it sucked to wait. Just consider it part of the necessary process.

So do you move up if your not chosen this semester? I would hope so.
