I have found that Academic Advisors are not trustworthy. They don't mean what they say, and they have no intention of keeping their promises.

Thanks for stating the obvious...once I figured that out in my first semester at college many moons ago, never used them again, saved me money!

Are RN-BSN Academic Advisors trustworthy? I have found that they don't mean what they say, and that they have no intention of keeping their words.

What do you think about RN-BSN Academic Advisors? Do you trust them?

No matter what major, Academic Advisors are for the school; even in the CC setting, where I learned this lesson, and helped advise myself into a PN and a BSN program successfully.

It doesn't matter, one must research thoroughly and make the decision for themselves to plan their course of study, anyone can do that.

How can you do a thorough research to determine whether they are liars or not? I told you they don't mean what they say, and they have no intention of keeping their promises..;)

Go to a website like assist.org, or send your questions via email, read the schools nursing programs websites and save the page to your hard drive. This is what I do.

My point is you don't have to tell me or anyone this...most people know that schools have "requirements" to fill; that is nothing new; just because one may not comprehend that doesn't mean they can not learn how to be objective, ask questions, match up how and what that means for them realistically, and go from there.

Again, using deductive reasoning is not a new concept.

The problem is not with the website. The problem is with the Academic Advisors. They think they are gods; their way or the highway..

They give you no options. Do what they tell you to do, or jump off a high cliff with no parachute.

I have never had an issue my nursing advisor. My regular advisor when I first entered the school really did not have a clue. If I had listened to her I wouldn't be applying to the program until spring. She didn't quite understand how the application process works and I had to explain it to her and have another advisor come in and back up what I was saying. She had good intentions but didn't really have a clue. I essentially just went to her when I absolutely needed something which was not often. I scheduled my own classes and took care of everything myself. I needed her to sign my sheet that had my academic roadmap for a class and I had to get a pin to register for my classes which she gave me. I would not certainly put my trust with my academic career into someone else entirely. You need to be responsible for yourself.

I found out early on that the AA's I was working with did not have my best interest at heart. After learning the hard way by listening to bad advice from them, I never followed their lead again. I was better off researching my own questions and trailblazing my own path.. Seems to have worked so far.

Oh I guess you mean if you ask their opinion. I don't go see them at all...at least very rarely.
