anyone go to regis? how good is the school/program, how COMPETETIVE is it? is there wait list?
Hi Lagoon, I have also been accepted to Regis for January 2007! Can't wait to meet you and everyone else!
For the original poster, I have a B.A. in Religious Studies with a G.P.A. of 3.7, and I made ALMOST all A's in my science prerequisites (B in Gen Chem!) I, too, spent a good deal of time on my essay, as I wanted to demonstrate that my background (which is not at all medical!) would be of value in nursing. I also have a lot of hospital volunteer experience and community service projects in which I'm involved, which I definitely made sure to list! My recs were both academic, one from a medical anthropologist, and the other from a psychologist/former nurse. Hope this helps!
Best of luck in the application process! You will do a great job, I'm sure! ~Fancy
Fancy,
Congratulations!! I just turned in my application. I am really worried about my gpa though. My previous degree is in Biology, and although it is a science degree I still have some pre-reqs to complete. Did you earn your degree a while ago or was it pretty recent? I'm hoping the admissions committee will not be really stuck on my previous gpa since it has been 3 years and i'm doing very well right now with my pre-reqs. Do you know anyone who got in with a not so good gpa in their previous degree?
Thanks, Shoehorses
Hi shoehorses,
To answer your question, my first degree was 8 yrs ago! So don't worry, I'm sure they are looking at other factors than grades (although do your best, just think of it as nursing school already so it doesn't seem so tedious!) What are your other skills, activities, life experiences? Even if you don't think they apply to nursing school, make sure to include them! And seek out every resource at school--tutors, the T.A., study groups, whatever works! I got through A&P by watching Discovery Health Channel, so do what you have to do! Good Luck and keep up posted! ~Fancy
I just graduated from Regis Accelerated program in Dec 2005. It was a lot of hard work, dedication and expensive but well worth it- great school. If anyone has specific questions about the Accelerated program you can send me a private message. Its a great school. We had a class of 88 and 86 passed the NCLEX the first time. I suggest taking the Kaplan review! Most of us got jobs in specialty areas in the area, even before graduation! Good luck!
Hello Fancy! I haven't checked in on these boards for awhile and I also can't wait to meet you and our fellow classmates. January seems so close, but yet so far away.
I have a question for you, have you received any letters from Regis about the Titers, vaccinations, and CPR certification yet? It's been awfully quiet since I got my acceptance letter. All I've been given is basically the Health Care Ethics letter and not much else.
Congratulations ColoradoRNnewgrad on graduation and passing the dreaded NCLEX. Thanks for the suggestion about the Kaplan review.

Lagoon, I can't rememeber for sure but you probably won't get anything about vaccs, CPR, etc. until a couple months before your start date in the program. Regis is very good about those things and it won't slip through the cracks. Regis doesn't miss a seam when it comes to the program.Hello Fancy! I, too, am in a state of anticipation (the positive kind) about starting Regis...I'm in the CHOICE program (nights and weekends for 2 years) starting in less than 3 weeks and I CAN'T WAIT!!!
I got the list of things to do in early June (approx. 2.5 months before start date). Tells you about immunizations, physical, financial aid forms, CPR requirements, etc. Then about a month later, got info on the required background check. A couple of weeks ago, I got the invitation to orientation which is held 2 weeks for the beginning of class. YEA, I'm so ready to go ask all my questions and find out about books and all the other "back to school" stuff.
I'm going to be a "student blogger" for the program so that will be a fun way to document the fun-filled ride through nursing school
I am also so looking forward to meeting all my classmates. Only 18 more days to go!

Lagoon,
If you don't mind me asking, what was your previous degree in? Also, do you know if there are more people in a certain degree background applying than others? Appreciate your help!
