  1. Hi shoehorses, To answer your question, my first degree was 8 yrs ago! So don't worry, I'm sure they are looking at other factors than grades (although do your best, just think of it as nursing school already so it doesn't seem so tedious!) What are your other skills, activities, life experiences? Even if you don't think they apply to nursing school, make sure to include them! And seek out every resource at school--tutors, the T.A., study groups, whatever works! I got through A&P by watching Discovery Health Channel, so do what you have to do! Good Luck and keep up posted! ~Fancy
  2. Hi there! I am a native Mississippian, and I agree with what the other poster said. It is VERY hot and humid in the summer and early fall (mid-80's to upper 90's), and somewhat cold during the winter (maybe mid-30's, hardly EVER freezes). Spring is short, but WONDERFUL, as is the end of October/early November. The worst thing is the humidity, by far. But thank goodness for air conditioning, and after a while you adjust! Hope this helps, and welcome to Mississippi!
  3. Hi Sarita! Good to know, thanks for the info! ~Fancy
  4. Hi there! Are there any Denver/Boulder hosptials that offer tuition reimbursement, loan forgiveness, or scholarships for nursing students? Do these programs actively recruit students, or are the programs strictly for nurses who have already graduated? I am looking for as much financial help as possible! Thanks so much! ~Fancy
  5. Hi there! I will be starting the Accelerated BSN at Regis in January '07, and I was wondering what the pediatric oncology RN job market is like in the Denver/Boulder area. I know Children's Hosp. Of Denver has a peds oncology unit, but are there any other facilites I should be aware of? Also, how difficult is it to get hired in oncology as a new grad? What are the shifts and starting salary like? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks! ~Fancy
  6. Hi Lagoon, I have also been accepted to Regis for January 2007! Can't wait to meet you and everyone else! For the original poster, I have a B.A. in Religious Studies with a G.P.A. of 3.7, and I made ALMOST all A's in my science prerequisites (B in Gen Chem!) I, too, spent a good deal of time on my essay, as I wanted to demonstrate that my background (which is not at all medical!) would be of value in nursing. I also have a lot of hospital volunteer experience and community service projects in which I'm involved, which I definitely made sure to list! My recs were both academic, one from a medical anthropologist, and the other from a psychologist/former nurse. Hope this helps! Best of luck in the application process! You will do a great job, I'm sure! ~Fancy
