Anyone attending Regis?
Hi SemperFi, I'm currently in the Regis Accelerated BSN program (just started) and it's been pretty crazy (in a good way). The program definitely moves at a very quick pace, but it's been reasonable so far. We've probably covered around 250+ pages of material weekly and there is a lot of material to absorb - not to mention a lot of assignments and lab exercises! Most everyone of my classmates are stressed, but we are doing well/reasonably well. I'd say we are still adjusting and feeling out our instructors in terms of their personalities and testing methods, but so far, the instructors have been kind, knowledgeable, personable, and approachable. Time sure passes with the Regis ABSN. The classes are over in 10 weeks and some are over in 5 weeks. That doesn't leave you with much time for a social life or even time to work, but as with any accelerated program, that's one of the expectations. It has been the 3rd week for me, but it feels like I just started yesterday. I've been hitting the books with the majority of my time as there is ALOT of material covered in such a very short time span. I've had some spare time, but not much. I'd say the commute to school (horrible I-25 traffic and the weather) has a lot to do with that. I think GregRN has covered all the answers in your question :) and I don't have anything more to add as I just started the program. Good luck to you SemperFi in your applications. Both schools have very good reputations in Colorado.:)

Hello Fancy! I haven't checked in on these boards for awhile and I also can't wait to meet you and our fellow classmates. January seems so close, but yet so far away. I have a question for you, have you received any letters from Regis about the Titers, vaccinations, and CPR certification yet? It's been awfully quiet since I got my acceptance letter. All I've been given is basically the Health Care Ethics letter and not much else. Congratulations ColoradoRNnewgrad on graduation and passing the dreaded NCLEX. Thanks for the suggestion about the Kaplan review.

Thanks! I'm not sure on how they tabulate the CGPA total (prior degree + prerequisites) and I was very worried about my GPA in my prior degree too. I don't know the CGPA that they are looking for in an applicant, but then again that's just 1 of the 3 components that you need when submitting the application and each batch of applicants are different. The CGPA figure is probably what freaks us out the most as an applicant =/, but they look at the overall picture and the essay component helps in that regard. Good luck with the application. I got the decision letter back 2 months and a couple of days after the application deadline.

Hello shoehorses. I got accepted into Regis ABSN for Jan 2007 and I know of 2 others who are in their current May 2006 ABSN intake. I'll try to answer some of your questions. When I asked about the amount of students who apply and the number of spots, I was told that for the January intake it's typically 200 to 300 applicants for 70-80 spots. For the May intake, it's around 200 to 300 applicants for 40-50 spots. For the applicant pool, I was told was that there are alternates selected from the applicant pool ready to replace those who choose not to enter the program or can't/chose another place to do their nursing program. I'm not sure about the waitlist... I don't exactly know how they grade the total process (GPA, Letter of Rec, Essay) or if they weigh it equally, but when I applied, they did mention that most of the applicants are above the 3.2 GPA with emphasis being placed on the Sciences GPA (A&P I and II, Micro, Chem, etc). For the characteristics of accepted applicants, I can only speak on mine and a little bit from another classmate. She has a very high GPA from her former university from a prior degree and has kept straight A's in her prerequisites. I have a decent/good GPA on my prior degree and straight A's in my prerequisites for the sciences. I don't know about the letters of recommendation as I chose to not open mine and submitted it without prior knowledge of what my references wrote. (Regis gives you the option in the form if you wish to review your references prior to submition when you handed your form to your reference and your reference knows about it) I did spend quite a bit of time on my essay. I hope that answers some of your questions! The counselors at Regis have been very helpful and I suggest you contact them for further information/questions that you have. They do have an orientation in which you can ask questions and have it twice a month I think. Good luck with your application =).
