anyone go to regis? how good is the school/program, how COMPETETIVE is it? is there wait list?

Hi,

I know that Regis requires 6 credit hours of religious studies. Can you take this class at Regis while you are in nursing school or during the summer or do they prefer that you have that out of the way before applying?

Thanks,

Stephen

You need two 3SH courses to fill the requirement. You can have 9SH remaining when you enter the program. They have to be from Religious Studies, Healthcare ethics, and/or Upper division electives.

HI there!

I saw your post that you were accepted to Regis, I was wondering if you could give me some advice :) I have applied for May 09 & just got invited to interview on 10/17, could you give me any help with what to expect during the interview? What kind of questions they asked? Where you interview individually or in front of a panel? I'm just really nervous & Regis is my number 1 school that I would like to get in to...Any help would be great!

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Ashley,

The last post in this thread is over 2 years old so the posters there may not see it. You must be applying for the accelerated program if your admission date is May '09. I'm currently in the traditional program. Here's my best advice:

a) Be able to articulately express the reasons you want to go to Regis over another nursing school. Perhaps even be able to answer why you chose not to pursue a career within the scope of your undergrad degree.

b) be familiar with the Jesuit traditions and principles that underlie the program's philosophy. Be prepared to discuss your feelings about these traditions and able to express ways in which you plan to incorporate these values into your practice, both as a student and registered nurse.

c) Remember what you said in your application essay and be able to expound on it.

d) Dress neatly and conservatively, and use a light hand with subtle colors in terms of makeup and have tidy looking hair. You want them to be able to picture you as a nursing student in our program. Remove any facial or tongue piercings -- doesn't mean you can't wear them to class, just not to any clinical site.

I've talked to many of the accelerated students and every single one of them has absolutely loved the program, their instructors and our clinical sites. We have incredible clinical sites -- Denver Regional, Children's, Rose, PSL, St Joe, Sky Ridge, Littleton, Swedish, North Suburban, Boulder Community, and many others. We also get to bid for all of our rotations, even the mini-clinicals in LTC.

Best of luck to you!

Wildchipmunk,

Thank you so much for your advice, you brought up some really good points that I would not have been prepared for otherwise.

I was also wondering if you could tell me what direction to take in reading up on the Jesuit tradition. I am familiar with what the Catholic church believes but being a nondenominational Christian, I am not sure where to start looking to be able to form an opinion. Your help again would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Ashley,

This link would give you a good idea what the Jesuit influence looks like at Regis:

I can't say enough good things about this school.

Wildchipmunk,

Thanks again, you have been a great help! I really appreciate all the info! :thankya:
