My Son's NP went there and is also on clinical faculty. Judging by her, I would say it is fabulous!

I applied for the joint ASN program (Lawrence Memorial Hospital/Regis College). Did anybody go there (ASN)? How were the clinicals? Thanks

I have been accepted to the LMRC nursing program. I will finish non-nursing courses this fall, and start clinical in Jan 06.

I will let you know!

Cool! I was just accepted too. I'm done with my prereqs so I'm going to be starting clinicals in September 05...I'll keep you informed.

I have a few questions about Lawrence Memorial Nursing School.......could you help me? How long did it take from the time you submitted your application till you received your acceptance letter? Did you have to wait months for an interview? Was there a waiting list? Thank you for the help.

It was a really long process. Pretty much everyone I've talked to has had the same experience. I sent in my application in early February of 2005. After following up with phone calls a couple of times, I was told that I'd hear back from them sometime in June, which I did. They called me to set up an interview in the second week and I went in for the interview/tour a few days later. At the interview I was told that the Fall 05 class was full (I'd already completed my prereqs and was going to start clinicals ASAP) so that I'd have to wait until the Spring of 06. I was also told that the decision had to be finalized by a committee, which meets once a month. Fortunately my interview was only a week before the date of the committee meeting. After that meeting, a representative from the school called to ask if I would like a spot in the Fall class (I assume someone withdrew or something) and I accepted. I finally received my letter a week later, in the first week of July. Essentially, it took 6 months from the time I sent in my application to the time I received my acceptance letter. I think the length of the process tends to be affected by 1) how long it takes your references to submit their materials and 2) how lucky you are in terms of having an interview that's before (and not right after) the once-a-month committee meeting. There was no wait list, though; they were ready to immediately enroll me, even if it was in a future class. Hope this helps-- good luck, and don't be afraid to call and check on your application. :)

I've heard Lawrence Memorial is hard to get into??

For you that have been accepted, what do you think?? How are your grades??

Thanks and good luck!!!

I had all As in my science prereqs and one or two Bs in math and english. They put a lot of emphasis on grades, but I also think they take work experience into heavy consideration. The only people I've heard of who had As & Bs and who didn't get in were straight out of high school.

hey guys i'm looking into the ASN prgram from lawrence memorial as well. Do you start clinicals in ur first semester as long as all prereq's (A&P and Micro) are completed? My plan is to take those classes over the summer, with my other classes transferred in i'll have 3 ed classes taken in the first semester. is that when u start taking clinicals..in the first semester you start for ur ASN?

That's right- you start clinicals the first semester. Just apply early and be prepared to wait. If you want to get in for September, apply now and tell them that your prereqs will be complete by the end of the summer.

If you look at the curriculum plans listed here, NU101, NU102, NU201 and NU202 are the clinical courses. Each of these also have somewhere between 5 and 10 hours of lecture a week.
