Published

Hi there!I'm currently looking for a best and reliable agency here in the Philippines that will help me process my papers and help me find a job in U.S., For those who already done to this procedure, please help me and give a list of those agencies.

Why do you want to use an agency? You can easily do it yourself and have more control over where you live. The only issue is with retrogression you may find it hard finding employer willing to wait several years for you to be processed. Going through an agency will not make it any quicker

Yes I know that silverdragon, but my only worry is I may not be able to find a hospital that will sponsor me. I heard from my friends that there are some agencies offering all services from taking nclex to immigration process including sponsorship of the hospitals. Please do advise me regarding this. And one more thing silverdragon, I already finished nclex, please also give me a friendly advice on what step to do next so I won't waste time.:wink2:

I personally would contact hospitals in the areas you want to live and approach them, I haven't any information on agencies but most will have a high cancellation fee and many can't guarantee where you will be placed. Would also recommend you gain experience in a specialised area as may make you more appealing to employers

I agree with silverdragon, stay away from agencies...and stay away from US if possible.. Congratulations for passing nclex though;) I dont want to burst your bubble but the US in retrogression right now. I think you know that. Please read the primer for those who want to work in the US for more info about the issues regarding immigration. I would suggest trying other countries instead. Try Canada. Im here in the US and I know that things are still a mess here-the Economy,Obama trying to reform US Healthcare system and Obama being against importation of foreign nurses. A lof of US fresh grad nurses even have a hard time looking for jobs here. Also, the US immigration laws need to be changed too thats why we have the retrogression but I think that will take a long long long time. I dont want you to be frustrated. There's already a long line of nurses ahead of you waiting for US to open its doors for them and a lot of them are already frustrated. Some have already waited for 6 years. Are u willing to wait that long?

thank you silverdragon for the advice, you have a point there. To brent,I'm also considering other countries as an option but before going over to there process of becoming a nurse, I still want to finish all necessary papers in US so if retrogression will lift up, my papers are already in line.

That is a good plan acepua =) I agree with that =) :yeah:I will contact u as soon as our hospital will be hiring again.

With the strong unions in the hospitals protecting the nurses, I don't see foreign grads coming over anytime soon especially with the economy in the toilet as it is. It's a good think that you're looking at going somewhere else who is willing to take you. At least you can get your hospital experience in there and then also keep your paperwork active towards the US. But just be aware that it can take years and with all the flood of foreigners wanting to come over to the US at a chance to work your chances are very slim. Good Luck

Not all hospitals have unions but any hospital that is looking for federal funding will need to explain any added costs.

In the past the cost of recruiting was an expense that Medicare allowed to be written off, with all the changes I would be surprised if the costs can be shifted back to Medicare.

Secondly, we don't know what health care is going to look like. In my home state we have mandated health care for all. It has not opened any nursing positions, open nursing positions are rare.

Third, all the papers that cite a potential nursing shortage point to positions open in outpatient nursing not inpatient nursing. This is due to the fact most surgery is outpatient. There will be a need for RNs but the need will not be in hospital inpatient areas. Home Health Care, Out Patient Clinics, and Doctor Offices are not high paying positions, and probably will not recruit foreign nurses ( I am basing this on the fact none of the current areas do market for foreign nurses).

Fourth, there is a possibility that nursing as we know it now many change. I have read that they are looking at nursing models of care ( to me this means more lpns and aides).

Fifth, the current president does not believe importing foreign nurses is the answer. He will be in office until 2012.

For all these reasons I agree with NurseCubanitaRN2b assessment of the situation.

It's a bad time for foreign educated nurses, first, the US economy is in bad shape, not enough money to hire foreign nurses, and other non nursing workforce in the US now jumping to the bandwagon, 2nd, the health care reform bill will reshape the health care industry, will cut medicare funds, will cut nursing employment in US and abroad, 3rd, the immigration bill, will cut immigrants skilled or non skilled, will prioritize own US workforce before hiring outsiders .
