recruiter wants my ATT - why?

i was hired for my position before i actually graduated, and my recruiter said several times that she needed my att and my letter from the florida bon stating i was eligible to sit for nclex before i could start as a gn. they need this to ensure that you are doing your part by proceeding ahead to take the boards and to become an employable nurse. think about it, they are hiring you for a position before you're even able to work in that position! they need to make sure they are not wasting their time (and money if they train you) on a person who actually is not able to sit for boards!

as far as them checking your results, i really don't know about that. perhaps they do, but even if that his intention, i don't think it would "look good" if you called your recruiter to find out your nclex results, when he knows you're capable of doing it yourself. btw, if at all possible, i wouldn't call the number for the quick results, i would do it online. it's a little cheaper ($7.95 online) and you can then print a copy of the screen that says "pass" for you to show off to everyone! :yelclap:

-- they have a copy of all my transcripts and my diploma for my bsn (magna cum laude). therefore, i didn't even think about the eligibility issue. i was hired as a "gn", and that stuff proves that i "graduated". the next (logical) step is to test, but i see where you are coming from.

btw, if at all possible, i wouldn't call the number for the quick results, i would do it online. it's a little cheaper ($7.95 online) and you can then print a copy of the screen that says "pass" for you to show off to everyone! everyone (family, friends, classmates, professors, employers) expects you to pass, no fun in showing it to anyone. i still have not made up my mind about paying extra for quick results. i might try to wait it out.

thanks for your thoughts. in a perfect world, he would have said, "hey, i need your att because......".

transcripts, etc. prove that you have graduated, but that is not necessarily the same as having satisfied the bon's requirements to be eligible to sit for boards.

does your state issue some kind of temporary/interim permit to work pending nclex? if so, *that* is your legal document that allows you to work and the facility to hire you as a gn, and that is what your employer should be asking for.

Don't pay to get your results!! You can go to your state board of nursing website to see if you have passed for free! I found out I passed within 3 days of taking my test and my license came in the mail just 4 days later! The same thing happened to a friend of mine that took her test in Texas. Just go to your state board of nursing website and look for a link that says something about verifying licensure and you can search your name. If a license number is there, that means you have passed. It may take a few days for it to show up though.

Depends entirely on the State: some take less time than Pearson results, others take a day or two longer, some WEEKS beyond the Quick Results option. Here in NY, it was taking a tad over a week to post from the time I tested. Same thing for everyone who tested in mid-late July. Wait that long when there's another option that costs less than taking my kid to McDonald's? You've gotta be kidding me.

After everything you have dealt with in nursing school, and preparation for the NCLEX, what the heck is eight bucks?? My peace of mind is worth WAY more than that, lol...

I have no patience! I broke down and paid (waited it out a week, checking the BNE morning and evening).

Just FYI - recruiter wanted ATT to make sure I am on track with scheduling THE test. Evidently some people put it off for w-a-a-a-a-a-y too long and the hospital has strict criteria (deadlines) for when you must accomplish certain things.

Authorization To Test :) Basically its a piece of paper showing the dates the ATT is good for, and a special ATT number that you need when you go test. If anyone else wants to add in feel free :)
