recording classes?

I've seen it mentioned that some of you record class lectures to refer back to later, what do you use to record these? I would want it digital if I can, do you use a type of recorder, or a program on your laptop or phone? Can you let me know what you use?

thanks

In classes where you have the OK to go ahead and record, just use an app on your phone. I recorded a couple of my micro lectures with my phone from the back couple rows of a 200 person capacity lecture hall, and they still turned out to be good recordings. Just make sure you know where the microphone on your phone is and make sure you don't cover it up (I did that more than once... Oops).

When recording is allowed in class I use the app supernote on my tablet. I can transfer files over to my computer and listen to them from there if I want. The paid version of the app which was not very expensive allows you unlimited recordings. Also has an area were you can type information in about the recording and you have the choice of 4 different color tabs that you can rename. I would use one color for each class. There are plenty of apps out there, many that are free or have a free version you can try out.
