Hi everyone!
I would like to start off by saying, I am a new member to the site as of today and it is my pleasure to be among all nursing students here. I look forward to reading all threads about your advice, tips, and personal experiences throughout your college years and into nursing school! I truly apologize if this is written in the wrong section of the thread.
Moving on to topic, can any nursing students here give me any recommendations or advice on whether I should take Physiology before taking Biology? Is Biology the root of Physiology? Does taking Biology prior help me get a better grade in Physiology? I am currently registered for Physio (for fall 2013 because my school does not have any Bio classes flexible with my work schedule) and my school does not require Bio as a pre-req for Phys. I need some advice because I don't want to sign myself up for failure. Thank you very much!
P.S. I apologize if this topic has already been discussed in the past.

I took biology in hs dont really remember much of it. At my school you have to take chemistry before physio so i think you should be good. Good luck!

You will be fine. They review some basic bio principles. If anything is confusing visit google.
Hello muirite,
Yes, there is a school that's about 10 miles away that offers the class. My only concern is would taking bio prior help out with physio. I wouldn't mind going the extra mile to ace my classes. Thank you for your responses!

Honestly regular general Bio does not really have a true correlation where A&P is concerned. I took General Bio in undergrad and that course is really about the biology of almost everything but humans. Human biology gets touched upon usually where the topic of evolution is concerned when comparing the skeletons between early man and modern man. You will also learn about fungi, lichens, various plant biology ........ Basically, a lot of stuff that is not relevant where AP is concerned. Honestly, I do not think taking Bio will help out with Physiology. I know people who got A's in Bio and fail A&P. Good luck.
Op. I echo pp. gen bio does not have much to do with a&p. I took bio as part of my first degree and it does not help with a&p. it's a lot of cellular stuff and plants. Not at all human anatomy. Please think about the time and money spent taking a course that does not help
Thank you everyone for your feedback. I forgot to mention that the course is Human Biology. It is actually a pre-requisite for me to get into Human Anatomy so I'll have to take it either way. I'm going whatever way that's easiest and convenient for me. At my school, Anatomy and Physiology are two separate courses. The reason I chose to take Physiology first was because I had no available time slot to take Human Biology next year.

I have to say, our school has Anatomy separate from Physiology. We covered cell biology at the beginning of Anatomy and you were not allowed to register for Anatomy until you completed either intro Biology or basic Chem. Basic Chem was more helpful in Physiology (especially when we covered sodium-potassium gated channels in the nervous system or blood chemistry, renal phys, etc.)
Just be careful: many nursing programs require Microbiology and most schools will not let you take Micro until you've completed biology. Something to think about. Also, if you want to pursue an advanced degree down the road, you'll more than likely need Organic & Biochemistry as well.
