Hello everyone,
I'm a nursing student working as a patient care tech. Today I had 8-9 patients and 4 of them spoke Spanish! Ah! I took two years in high school and two semesters in college, but honestly, I have let that bucket go dry and I would like a refresher. Also, since these were just regular Spanish classes, I did not learn to say certain things or words related to the medical profession. I also feel like these classes did not prepare me well for conversations, but I learned more grammar and how to read, which does not help much if you cannot speak it!! If you don't use it, you lose it.
I would like to purchase some type of book that I could use to refresh for my Spanish-speaking only patients. Has anyone learned Spanish on the job? What is your experience and do you recommend a certain text?
Thanks everyone!:)

A former client of mine wrote this one and I happen to use it almost daily in clinicals http://www.amazon.com/Medical-Spanish-Gail-L-Bongiovanni/dp/0071345507

Agree with the recommendation. But remember: It's still not gonna be as it's hyped... Incredibly Easy!
Takes constant practice to get it and improve. Much commitment and time required, which many busy folks truly just don't have.
Only trying to be real. But if you really, really, really want it, it can be done.
Good luck!
