Could someone please suggest a good beginner's yoga DVD? Taking a class doesn't quite work into my time and budget right now but I'm interested in the many health benefits from yoga. I'm looking to strengthen and tone my middle-aged muscles as well as learn relaxation techniques to deal with the stress of work and life.
Is anyone familiar with Barbara Benagh's "Yoga for Beginners" DVD? It looks like it might meet my needs but I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who has actually used this DVD.
The trouble with exercise DVDs, of course, is that one must take them out of the package and actually DO them in order for them to work but I figure this would at least be a baby step in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!

I use the Wai Lana yoga series. It is filmed outside and
there are a variety of dvds to select, including a beginner dvd.
She also sells yoga mats and supplies.
There are numerous options for yoga, so I will defer to
other members who know yoga best.
Thought I would share the series that has been helpful to me.
Good luck on your fitness journey!
PS- Not yoga, but you might enjoy the Classical Stretch/Essentrics
dvds by Miranda Esmonde White and Sahra Esmonde White
Thank you! I will check out the DVDs you recommended, including the stretching DVDs.
I like how you said fitness is a journey. I'll keep that in mind as I get started!

That Gaiam AM/PM for beginners is nice with Rodney Yee and Patricia Walden.
At the moment, I can only do the AM version as the PM feels too hard for me, but I really did let myself go for a while. One of my goals is to complete that PM thing without feeling pain the next day. That and completing Downward Facing Dog with both heels flat on the ground.

Barbara Benagh's DVDs are the best yoga DVDs out there, IMO.

would this be something you might find in a library?....
Your library might have some yoga DVDs.
Here's the best (IMO) Barbara Benagh DVD for beginners. I love it because it has so many routines to choose from. It's not just a 30 minute or 1 hour workout that is the same every time. It's 240 minutes of various yoga workouts you can choose from:

I do not know names of yoga dvds I just do classes at the yoga studio or...my suggestion...do you have comcast on demand? Under the exercise section they have yoga workouts ranging from 10-45 mins usually. Plus other kinds if you'd like.
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm trying a little bit, not every day, but when I feel up to it. I'm taking gabapentin for my fibromyalgia and sometimes I think it's working, sometimes not.

Try Yoga Chi for Energy. It's terrific for beginners, gentle yet effective. I saw a really good review for it on Bellaonline. Amazon sells it too. It's instructed by Suzanne Andrews who's on PBS TV.
