what is the difference? what would you recommend??where do you think is better to work ???

Hospital for sure!

I've only been a CNA in nursing homes and although I would love to work in one, I just don't think it's a good idea. No disrespect to those nurses working in LTC but you really don't do as much and your patient experience is limited. I have great respect and desire to work with the elderly but I feel I would better use my education working in a hospital.

Gotta decide your end goal! In my area if you work in LTC it is very difficult to move from that into a hospital. I love working in the hospital, my sister works in LTC. I wish I could work in LTC (I don't care for it at all) because it pays extremely well here - mainly because of the need and the over time available.

Good luck!

Up here, you get paid the same be it Acute Care or LTC. True LTC is government funded and not for profit. There are truly some excellent facilities because the staff enjoy their work but the patient/nurse/na ratio is huge.

I just found LTC soul destroying and felt like it was a wharehouse for the infirm old.

Just because medicine can keep a patient alive doesn't mean they should. 98yo, incontinent, hasn't had a visitor in memory, just a relative in another province and you're a full code?
