Recieved ATT after 9 months of waiting

Published

Yes, I waited 9 long months for my ATT. I checked the BON website everyday hoping for any change in my status only to be disappointed each day. I have eligibility issues and knew what I was getting myself into, but it was [is] still a very emotionally draining process.

I woke up today and did my usual check on the BON website and there it was; my status went from "pending" to "eligible to test"! I checked my e-mail and there was my ATT. I could not believe it, I was beginning to think that this was something that I was never going to see.

Now that the initial shock is over, my excitement has turned into anxiousness. I have been out of nursing school for 9 long months and know that it has severely affected my NCLEX knowledge. I took a professional review course right after graduation (it was included in my tuition), where we completed 6000 question but it certainly is not fresh in my mind. I do not even know where to begin. I'm not sure if I should just be doing questions first, or go over content. I have not even thought about where I was going to start at because I wasn't sure that I was going to get to take the test, now I take it February 10th. Any advice is appreciated.

Why did it take so long to get your Att?? Are you out of the country ??

No I'm not from out of the country, I have a criminal history.

Kaplan's review course has a good content review along with lots of practice questions. So if you're looking for both I think that's a good choice. I take my exam Feb 3rd and have only been out of school since December but it still really helped me review content I had when I first started nursing school that isn't as fresh in my mind. Plus it helped me realize what topics I needed to review.

I think you should go over content for about 2 weeks with a good book like Saunders. Dedicate at least 4 to 6 hrs per day. Test your content knowledge aged each chapter with the Cd. After that you can start comprehensive nclex style with nclex 4000. If you have funds you can sign up for a review Hurst or Kaplan to learn test strategies. The PDA book is good too. Then do a minimum of 100 questions per day and look at the rationale. just took mine on Thursday and im optimistic that I passed. All the best.

Congratulations on receiving your ATT. I understand how waiting can be very discouraging. Two of my classmates were able to sit for NCLEX however they had to wait for licensure due to not revealing background on initial application. I'm just happy that everything turned out great for you and my classmate. Best wishes future RN.

which state are you in? I've been waiting 5 months... this is the most discouraging and frustrating process. :(

I'm in Ohio, and I agree that it is emotionally exhausting just waiting. I got my ATT but it still does not mean that they are licensing me, so I am still waiting for a letter from them stating their decision. I know that it is necessary, but none the less it is still discouraging even when you knew what you were getting yourself into. Ohio only meets for two days every two months so I'm sure that contributed to the wait time.
