Hey all, I am in a Trends and Issues in nursing class and we have to interview a recent grad, 6 months or less (give or take a month or 2). It is 10 questions and my oringinal interviewee did not return my questions answered. I need to turn in the answers by Tuesday morning. Please reply if you are able to help a student out:nuke: Thanks!

Do you need to ask the questions of a recent grad (
I'd be happy to help you out. I graduated in June. I start my job tomorrow. If you need a grad who's working as a nurse now, I can't really help until after tomorrow

I graduated a month ago, start my job in 2 weeks. I would also be willing to help.
To both of you, I would love your help, it is supposed to be a working grad, but at this point if I don't get any other replies, you can answer my questions based on your clinical experience or whatever. I'll let you know by the end of the day.. Thanks to both of you!

I graduated in December and have been working since January. If that's what you need, I'd be willing.

Both... I feel every day I work I improve in all these aspects, as I become more familiar with my patient population and learn the ropes. I also believe that I will always have room to grow in learning new and improved/better ways to do things.
PM'd you with my answers.
Good luck on the assignment.

Yes, we had clinicals at least 1x a week, sometimes 2x for the entire semester...
Ortho/neuro
Yes, I've been working there for 2 years as a tech....
honeymoon ending, and shock is coming quickly....
Yes, some are cranky, but everybody was new once...so that is the strongest bond we share.

a MIX between interpersonal and clinical...you have to be able to do and to relate to patients/families...
There is always room to grow...or else you have stopped learning.

3. Did you feel the program was clinically strong? Yes. Clinicals were twice a week through all semesters. Subjects covered included med-surg, OB, psych, home health, dialysis, and some community.
4. What department do you work in? Med-surg
At present time, yes. I plan to move into an OB area after about a year.
Honeymoon phase. I'm loving work at the moment, though I am aware that the shock phase will be coming; probably soon after I finish orientation
Very much so. I have an excellent preceptor and the other nurses willingly give help/answer questions when I need.

Clinical skills 3
Organizational skills 1
Delegation skills 5
Priority setting skills 4
That's a tough one to say as they're all really important, but if I had to pick...I would say mix between priority and clinical skills.
I definitely have more room to grow. However, I have had experiences in most of the above skills while working, which has helped boost my confidence immensely. But I could always use more. Practice makes perfect!

I feel that I didn't get much exposure in my clinicals and there are skills I haven't done yet!
